Isn’t this the reason we always preach about leaving abusive partners? Some are just bent on remaining Mrs somebody, some don’t have the financial capability to leave, some are scared of being seen as failures who couldn’t keep their marriages and to be called single mothers, some believe it is the work of the devil. There are so many reasons people stay in abusive marriages and it’s our duty to keep speaking up about it and providing a safe environment where survivors are not mocked

A married woman died two days ago in Abuja and her husband brought her corpse to her family house in Benin Today.
Safe to say the husband has been arrested and is being charged for the murder of his wife because the deceased have on several occasions sent videos and pictures to her brothers concerning the domestic abuse she has been facing in the hands of her husband.
Her brothers sent flight money for her to return but I Benin last month only to be called upon three days ago that their sister is dead.
Why did they wait this long? Why couldn’t they storm her matrimonial home, get her husband arrested since they already have enough evidence of the abuse and take their sister away? Why did she not leave despite the abuse? What was she waiting for? So many questions in my head right now.
I pray he is found guilty after autopsy so he can rot in prison.

Marriage isn’t a workplace, a husband is not a manager, and a wife is not an employee. Let’s stop these false equivalents.
Respect in marriage isn’t about who gives instructions and who follows them, it’s about two people choosing to listen to each other without turning it into a power struggle. if you think listening to your wife makes you less of a man then maybe what you need isn’t a wife but an employee you can give directions to without them debating it with you.
And reducing women to “obedience” while calling it faith doesn’t make it right, it just makes it easier to control.
If that truth bothers you, it’s not feminism, It’s just awareness.

@therealchilotam A woman who does not earn money is not useless, she does so much to compensate for not earning and to me, that’s more difficult than actually earning money

Women for the most part are working AND taking care of their children even when they’re married and husbands don’t help. There’s nothing bum-ish about that.

@Chidi_Nka Two kids o😢 it’s very important that people understand how much better they will be if they leave toxic relationships and marriages. Some case with strong evidence and testimonies haven’t gotten conviction in court in this country

@TDeisine The sad thing is he might walk free. There is no point staying in abusive marriage. It ends badly, if your spouse kills you, they live on happily & marry the next victim. Even if they're jailed. The kids will suffer with no parents. No gain.😩

When some women in abusive marriages say “I am staying for the kids”, what they actually mean is that they are not financially capable of taking care of the kids alone and for some men, once you take sex away, they automatically stop caring for their kids.

Nobody should tell you how or when or what amount to spend on your mother, whether as a man or woman.
One reason I will never support the idea of a stay-at-home mom is mainly because of finance, one party works and earn while the other party works but does not earn, it is a very unfair situation.
If both parties are working and hubby gives his mum 400k, instead of complaining, you give your mum 400k too. Everybody will be entitled to their money and will better contribute to the growth of the home.
Husband happy, wife happy, in-laws happy. It’s a win-win situation

@Tiel_21 She forwarded pictures and videos of her battered face to her brothers on different occasion, they sent her money for flight twice which she accepted but did not return to Benin. That should have been their cue to storm Abuja, they didn’t even make a formal complaint 🤦🏾♀️
