@MPIainDS The transfer of sovereignty over the Chagos Archipelago to Mauritius is not a sudden policy shift by the current government but the conclusion of a multi-year diplomatic process initiated by the Conservative Party. It was a toxic tory policy in the first place.

The Chagos deal is dead and good riddance. It was a strategic blunder from the start by this Labour government and a disaster waiting to happen. Many of us warned the government but they simply refused to listen, now they will have to make another humiliating U-turn. telegraph.co.uk/politics/2026/… Perhaps those close to the government who made very tidy sums promoting this disastrous deal might now consider donating some of those earnings to the Chagossian people whose interests were so often overlooked in the process.

@KEdge23 If you want cuts to local services, more pot holes in your roads, no investment in schools, more people dependant on food banks, lack of affordable housing, then the toxic tories are for you, but if you want improved services, roads fixed, schools repaired , then vote green.
