@emilykenway You are so right. I really missed access to journals - on leaving-it became clear how expensive subs were. Things seem to be gradually changing as it is pointed out -even by some academics- that the interested public who fund the research shouldn't have to pay for the results

Apart from being wrong in principle, it's not even politically astute. Nothing the BBC does will ever satisfy its right-wing critics - they loathe the very basis of its existence - whilst decisions like this and the Lineker one just make it harder for its supporters to defend

Shame to hear a journalist @matthewsyed not supporting freedom of speech re @GaryLineker. I was brought up to believe it was fundamental that every journalist should believe in that. But it seems freedom of speech for some, not all.
