Despite working fully remotely as an IT specialist, her request for a religious exemption was denied and she was terminated in 2022. The jury found that Blue Cross Blue Shield violated federal religious discrimination laws, with attorneys criticizing the company’s vaccine mandate as a rigid “one-size-fits-all” policy. The ruling is now being viewed by opponents of vaccine mandates as a significant win for religious freedom and workplace accommodation rights.
