@leonkiriliuk On my PS2 noctua mod, I recommend to use a NF-A6x25 5V and use a 10ohms 1W resistor to series. This should step down the voltage enough to not burn the fan when an HDD is plugged. twitter.com/TRP_RetroMods/…

PS2 came in for HDMI upgrade that already had a Noctua fan upgrade. I was surprised that the fan didn’t work. Upon further inspection I discovered that the fan plug puts out 4VDC but a 12VDC fan is installed. Why are people selling 12VDC fans for this mod? SCPH-55000 GT.

@xavier16239131 @onlinedeadline Both are hand-made from perfboards. The one with the big cap is simple bridge rectifier before the stepdown converter so I can use any polarity in the power source. The other is a very crude 5V splitter with JST XH plugs, just to avoid soldering wires everywhere.

Listen, my fat ass has broken yet another computer chair. I'm currently sitting in a fold-out camping chair and I'm not having a fun time! I like to lean back in my computer chairs and evidently this breaks them. Can anyone recommend a good computer chair that can endure this?

Testing stuff with OBS. Now since I've upgraded the PC from the workshop, I gave it all the capture cards I have in hands the house. So I have the camcorder, the webcam, the OSSC and the microscope with a wired lavalier. Need a second screen and remote/deck control it.

@jeffqchen @leonkiriliuk @Consoles4You I wrap kapton around the ribbon and lens after install for 1) protect oxydation and 2) give a bit of rigidity/stress relieve on the solder joint

@leonkiriliuk @TRP_RetroMods @Consoles4You From my experience solder is not your friend all the time. They hold joints fixed and any flexing part right next to it gets fatigued/severed very easily (think about wires breaking right outside of its joint). Maybe a stiffener would help this flex last longer but I dunno...

I had a chance to try out a new Virtual Boy ribbon replacement (based on work by @TRP_RetroMods and sold by @Consoles4You) I’m very impressed by the product. Works great and took 1/2 the time than the old solder melt method.

Throwing a bottle in the ocean: if someone has a lens of a Virtual Boy in spare (like after a consolized VB) please contact me. I think I have a lens with snapped goldwires inside the lens (not a ribbon issue)

@SuperMattroid @MisterAddons I used Post Canada/USPS and have very very few issues. And the very little times when there are customs, they charges REAL customs taxes (not enjoyable but at least they are fair and legal).
