@falco_girgis It's still cool as hell, regardless. The Dreamcast to me even today is and was insane hardware for the late 1990s.

Hard to say right now... because the problem is that the game logic is all tied at the hip to the N64's 30FPS, so in order to get smooth 60FPS, the Dreamcast has to do some really heavy matrix interpolation between frames, which is typically just done on bulkier PC builds of these N64 ports. On one hand, we got a lot more geometry and polys getting pushed around and even a bit of lighting compared to Mario Kart 64, which seemed like it could do 60FPS, but on the other hand... It's MOSTLY at 30FPS right now (framerate capped), literally EMULATING the audio mixing and synthesis on the main SH4 CPU that the N64 was offloading to the RSP... Plus the math still looks like absolute dog shit, so it really is running quite well considering how unoptimized and shitty the code looks for DC ATM.

I've only had access to the codebase for Bruce's port of Diddy Kong Racing to the Sega Dreamcast for about 12 hours so far... and I've already managed to create an "incident" worthy of the scrapbook. I migrated the trigonometry away from using giant-ass, interpolated LUT approximations to our HW-accelerated dual sin/cos FSCA instruction, using my SH4ZAM math library. The gainz were so big that their necks got swole too!🤣

@Voultar It's weird how people draw the lines at video games when literally the entire world is moving away from ownership. You've all been so entertained you let everything pass by until it effects you personally so you become reactive when people should've be proactive the entire time.

I think this is missing the forest for the trees. Nobody gives a shit whether it's Blu ray in 2030 or something else. The point is that Sony is walking away from ownership entirely. The medium isn't the issue. Replacing something you own with a revocable license and charging the same price is.
