Today morning accompanied by PSST @rggoobi and technical team we appeared before @Parliament_Ug Committee on Budget to respond to issues raised by the Committee on the draft estimates of revenue and expenditure for FY 2025/26. The revenue collection has not increased as projected in the Charter for Fiscal Responsibility (CFR) due to slow recovery of businesses from effects of Covid-19. @GovUganda has renewed the tax relief to these entities to allow them time to recover. Revenue performance has been oscillating between 13.4% to 14% between FY 2020/21 and FY 2024/25. @GovUganda is moving forward with full scale implementation of the domestic revenue mobilization strategy (DRMS),adding that significant investment has been made in @URAuganda to improve tax administration in addition to improving efficiency in tax exemptions. Concerning the status of nominal public debt, nominal debt as a percentage of GDP was at 46.80% in FY 2023/24 way below the projected 47.9% for the end of the FY,adding that debt outturn has consistently been below projection over the years. Our debt is expected to remain sustainable in FY 2025/26 and over the medium term.
