DYK: On April 6, 1896, James Connolly (Harvard) won the 1st medal of the modern Olympics - Triple Jump, the first Olympic champion in 1,527 years! He also placed 2nd in the LJ and 3rd in the HJ.

Leo Manzano (Marble Falls), Jake Merrell (Turkey Valley), and Will Boyce (Onalaska) are the only boys to have won UIL State gold in the 800 / 1600 / 3200.

Junior Alafa from Paducah HS (1985-88) is the only UIL boy to win four 3200 meter titles.
