The Ugandan Anti-Homosexuality Act has increased violence and discrimination against LGBT+ people. I’m deeply concerned Uganda continues to roll back human rights. The UK will continue to stand up for a world where people are free from persecution, regardless of their sexuality.

@positive_trans @SaroImran Digital spaces can offer sanctuary but are also often targeted by anti-LGBT+ groups. #Privacy laws are not universally strong, nor is enforcement of these laws. It’s not just governments who must act, but social media companies who hold much of this data, adds @Tabithaha.

Now, Eli @positive_trans says that visibility is essential to improving trans rights: “many people still don’t believe we even exist”. Shares his story facing difficulty trying to access PrEP as a result of being trans.

@positive_trans @SaroImran The criminalisation of trans identities is a barrier to the HIV response. In Uganda where the abhorrent Anti-Homosexuality Act is in place, the impact is already clear. UK must further condemn the AHA. And address urgent need for asylum for LGBT+ people who’s lives are at risk.

@positive_trans Speaking from Pakistan, @SaroImran, says that more resources are needed to create safe spaces for communities and support legal cases to uphold then human rights of trans people, who face high levels violence & discrimination.
