@TablePlus Would it be possible to separate “Auto Fit Columns” from “Reset Column Positions”?
Right now they are coupled, so using Auto Fit also resets all manually arranged columns. It would be great if these were two independent actions.

My company finally blocked Linux laptops yesterday.
The first day on a Mac feels like going from a manual gearbox to automatic. Getting anywhere feels so slow, and excrutiatingly boring.

Yeah, I’m not saying we don’t need the speed. I actually really like Ghostty and am planning to add it to one of our tools (DBngin). I just wanted to say that iTerm2 isn’t that bad for normal use.
BTW, we prefer Ghostty now. We just need to fix a few issues before fully switching the team over to Ghostty.

I was an iterm2 user a long time. It absolutely is laggy on normal use once you’re used to the speed of faster terminals. Even outputting normal amounts of text is noticeable (it takes multiple frames longer). This is compared to pretty much any faster terminal. You see it a lot with git diffs and log tailing.
And please note my message about the cat benchmark. It’s not about reading large files. It’s about IO throughout.
Things like Neovim full buffer redraws (eg you split). Happens in one frame in Ghostty in a 6K full screen terminal. Takes a number of frames with tearing in the middle on iterm. You get used to it until you realize it’s not normal lol

@pratyusharj @mitchellh It isn’t laggy for normal use, and 99.99% of the time, we don’t need to cat a 190 MB file just to display it on the screen.

I'm not here to defend Spotify, and 4,500 production deployments a day sounds unrealistic since the product "barely changes" over the years.
However, the term "barely changes" reflects the user's perspective. From a personal viewpoint, it may seem unchanged, but they are adding more features, just not for you (for other personas) and it's a good thing, as it won't pollute the app UI.
Rare take: Spotify is actually brilliant for managing 4,500 product deployments daily while keeping the app simple, extremely challenging (compared to PDF Foxit reader).

Just added an Easter egg: if you leave the app in the background for too long, it gains consciousness and starts thinking about its life. No worries, the app won't bite your database and will return to normal when you focus on it again.
