I think one of the saddest aspects of modern day life is the school drop off and pick up phenomena. Back last century when I went to Primary School we walked or cycled to school. Rain or shine. No there were no 4 mile treks through the snow! Only picked up if sick (and even that wasn’t guaranteed) or on prize-giving end of year ceremonies. If I had friends at school that lived my direction we would all leave together and have an extra chance to socialise. Seems those days are well gone ..
