MWA HA HA HA HA In all seriousness, DMV gang, there is a chance of a few snow showers during the predawn hours Saturday morning. This is the HRRR model We'll be frigid overnight and there's *just enough* mid-level oomph to lift some leftover moisture. No impacts/accumulation.

Here we go with another STEEP March temperature drop. From highs in the upper 70s to near 80 across the D.C. region this afternoon, and temperatures still up near or above 60 when you head to work or school Friday morning, we should fall to the 50s by about 10 a.m., then into the 40s after 2 or 3 p.m. Temperatures continue to fall Friday night, down to lows in the upper 20s to low 30s, completing a roughly 50-degree drop from this afternoon. Plan on occasional showers much of the day Friday, and winds gusting form the north around 20 to 30 mph. Rainfall doesn't look too heavy, but could range anywhere form about 0.1 to 0.5 inches.

Rita Moreno is one of just three people to win an Emmy for The Muppets, the other two: Bernadette Peters and Peter Sellers. The comedy timing during her performance of "Fever" while Animal attempts to railroad her is incredible. It was also done in one take "Dat my kinda woman!"

So far the trends are encouraging… junky morning cells left from the Carolinas are dirtying our “warm sector,” reducing how much storm fuel we’ll have for the afternoon round.

HIGHER RISK MONDAY March 16 2026 🧵 1 of 4 ‼️ LEVEL 4️⃣ of 5: This has been raised AGAIN and Is A Big Deal. 🌪️ ❄️ Multiple Tornadoes (possible) AND may end with Snow (again) Lots of info here: This is Very Possible AND Not Promised. 🙏 Please know this is not hype. I would not do that. My goal is to Make You Aware So You Can Prepare AND NEVER TO SCARE! WHY NOW? 🌀 A Blizzard in the Northern Plains/Great Lakes on Sunday will spark a line of severe storms in the Central US. This will peak in our region on Monday! WHEN: 🪟 Time Window Noon to 8 PM 🏫 Schools: I do not make the call for them. In the past I have seen both staying in for shelter OR dismissing Early, even for damaging wind forecast. 👀 Stay on the lookout for official word for your place. ‼️ ALERTS: WATCHES are Issued when the conditions are present for these storms to form. They cover a broad areas and often time window about 6 hours. WARNINGS are issued when a storm with these conditions is actually happening. Then tracked through counties and specific towns in a shorter window of time. 🌪️ Multiple Tornadoes are possible 🧊 Hail OVER 1" diameter is standard criteria for a storm to be considered 'Severe' 💨 Winds OVER 58 mph is standard criteria for a storm to be considered 'Severe' ⚡️ Lightning can be dangerous in any thunderstorm, even if not severe.

Did you know? NASA only uses 15 digits of π for calculating interplanetary travel. At 40 digits, you could calculate the circumference of a circle the size of the visible universe with an accuracy that'd fall off by less than the diameter of a hydrogen atom. π Day 2026

Ultra rare flip from record warmth to cold and snow! ❄️🔥 Falling to 33 degrees with snow, temperatures in D.C. were at least 53 degrees colder this afternoon compared with the record high of 86 degrees Wednesday. It’s the largest 24-hour dip since Reagan National Airport became the official observation location in 1945. It was probably the biggest drop in D.C. over a day or less since 54 degrees Jan. 28-29, 1934, when it fell from 65 to 11 degrees, from 3 p.m. to 7 a.m., per data from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet. The rare occurrence is made even more so by the snow that fell. For D.C., where 0.1 inch was reported: -A high of at least 77 degrees was observed in the predawn, which is the warmest it has been on the same day as accumulating snow. Before this, the top mark was 67 degrees on Nov. 11, 1995, when 0.2 inches accumulated the same day. -Wednesday’s 86 degrees was also the warmest on the day prior to snow accumulation. Before this round, the warmest it has been the day before accumulation is 78 degrees on March 18, 1934, when 0.1 inches fell the next day. For Dulles International Airport, where 0.6 inches fell: -The 74-degree high in the predawn was the warmest it has been the same day as accumulating snow. The prior record there was 68 degrees and 0.2 inches on March 3, 1972. -It was 86 degrees at Dulles on Wednesday. Before this, the warmest followed by accumulating snow was 77 degrees on March 15, 2007. A total of 1.2 inches of snow fell the next day with a high of 39 degrees.

🌸 D.C.’s cherry blossoms may take their time this year. After the chilliest winter in more than two decades, the trees are just beginning to wake up. Warm weather this week should kick-start development, but cooler conditions later in March may slow the progression toward peak bloom. 📅 Our forecast: April 3–7 for peak bloom at the Tidal Basin. That would be the latest since 2018 and notably later than last year’s March 28 peak. Over the past century, peak bloom has shifted about a week earlier on average because of climate warming — but this year looks like a throwback to a later bloom.
