@TakeCareShopDC @BarredinDC No they didn't. We cited those numbers purely as an example. They are not meant to be real numbers but rather a theoretical example asking if their profit shrank 50% or much more. Have no idea what actual numbers are hence the ask. Sorry for the misdirect.

@pqliving @BarredinDC Did they state somewhere that their prior *profit* was a million dollars? Where is that number coming from? Genuinely asking.

@BarredinDC In the end, a profit is a profit. Is annual profit going from $1m to $1k or is it going from $1m to $500k. Would argue that the latter while down 50% still allows for reinvestment. Don't know the economics of it so hard data would be interesting.

just a friendly reminder that if you want small, independent businesses to survive, you have to shop there once in a while. you can't just backsource everything you find there and try to find a cheaper price online. or if you do, don't performatively lament when they shutter.
