If you're interested in working on Talaris we can mentor you to start your own advocacy effort. The original group of us is working on other things now, but if this is a thing you want to work on we still have stickers, a website, materials and more!

On first pass it's exciting that the "One Seattle Comprehensive Plan" draft released by @SeattleOPCD includes more corner stores! But on closer inspection, it requires 3 🚗 parking spaces per store? That would still make the example they use, the Volunteer Park Cafe, illegal.

I also want to shout out the Affordable Talaris volunteers @Talaris4All for letting us repurpose the above image for our comp plan organizing 👏 The image was created by them to envision what the Laurelhurst Talaris project could be if it were developed as a dense walkable neighborhood. Which is exactly what it should be!

Really excited to see our vision for Talaris being promoted as a strong vision for the next Comprehensive Plan. Also, Talaris is one of the best examples of bad zoning leading to bad outcomes in a neighborhood with high opportunity and low displacement risk.

There's a big launch happening this week #Seattle You know how we passed Seattle Social Housing which set up a City Run Developer? Well now we need to *a lot* more work to make it actually happen. We need focused energy for this work. That's @houseRneighbors !

The legalization of some gentle missing middle housing may not apply to certain areas. Laurelhurst has a settlement agreement around the land at Talaris. It isn't an HOA so we are interested to know if the new rules allows for four plexes, also it is well-served by transit.

Without 10-20K for lawyers to delay the progress of less than 50 ultra luxury McMansions near transit in Seattle on the Talaris parcel, a generational mistake is unfolding. This waste of an opportunity for homes for hundreds of families is the direct result of bad zoning.

I wish there were microunits in Seattle that went for like 500-600 a month for 3 month leases
