The @afpnewsagency reports on Peyvand and Borna Naimi’s torture, mock executions, and forced confessions to crimes they did not commit. Noting that these cases are among dozens of Bahá'ís arrested since nationwide protests broke out in January. @siminfah, Representative of the Bahá'í International Community at the UN in Geneva, is quoted as saying: "This is a type of escalation against the Bahá'ís that we have not seen for decades." yahoo.com/news/articles/… This article joins a growing chorus of worldwide support calling out the Iranian government's ongoing persecution and scapegoating of the Bahá'ís in Iran. #BahaiRights #PeyvandNaimi #BornaNaimi #Iran @Stuart_JW

Member of the House of Commons of Canada @AHousefather calls for the immediate release of Peyvand and Borna Naimi. During Iran Accountability Week earlier this month in Canada, parliamentarians and advocates came together to highlight human rights abuses and stand with prisoners of conscience in Iran, at a time when the Iranian government continues to intensify its repression of religious minorities. He urges that it is critical for the international community to continue speaking out, also mentioning that this is not an isolated case but a targeted effort, especially during times of crisis. This video statement joins a growing chorus of parliamentarians and human rights advocates worldwide calling out the Iranian government's ongoing persecution and scapegoating of the Bahá'ís in Iran. #BahaiRights #PeyvandNaimi #BornaNaimi #Iran

When the Egyptian state refuses to register a Bahá'í marriage, the consequences extend far beyond the couple. Their children cannot be registered in government records. They are denied essential services including immunisations and school enrolment. The family has no legal standing to claim inheritance, custody, or pensions. Residency and citizenship are denied—even when every legal requirement is met. Between 2024 and 2025, at least six documented cases saw the "marriage" field on Bahá'í national ID cards changed to "single" by the Civil Status Authority, on instructions from the Ministry of Interior. Couples who had previously won court rulings affirming their marriages found that, when their IDs were renewed, their married status had been reversed. #EgyptianBahaiRights

Serious Health Concerns for Angha Siavashi Detained in Shiraz It was learned on 30 April 2026 that concerns have been raised regarding the physical and psychological condition of Mr. Angha Siavashi, a 19-year-old Baha’i detainee, who is currently held in custody in Shiraz. Mr. Siavashi was arrested on 7 April 2026, at his family home without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was later transferred to Adelabad Prison in Shiraz. His aunt, Ms. Pouneh Rouhizadegan has stated that he had been undergoing medical treatment prior to his arrest, and the abrupt discontinuation of his prescribed medication could pose serious health risks. He has not been allowed access to his necessary medication while in detention. Authorities have recently informed his family that his physical and mental condition was “serious.” The family were threatened with the possibility of not seeing him again. As of the time of writing, no information has been released by the authorities regarding the reasons for his arrest or the nature of any charges brought against him. #Bahai #Iran #Arrests #Imprisonments #AnghaSiavashi

In an unexpected move, over 40 percent of Qatar’s Bahá’í population faces imminent expulsion from the country...Collectively, this is an unjustified and devastating escalation of the systematic discrimination against the Bahá’í community. Roya Ostovar Sentenced to Five Years in Prison in Isfahan It was learned on 19 February 2026 that Ms. Roya Ostovar, a resident of Isfahan, was sentenced by Branch 11 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Isfahan to five years in prison, a fine of 165 million tomans, and 15 years of deprivation of social rights. The Court is presided over by Judge Vahid Hemmatnejad. Ms. Ostovar was interrogated on 21 June 2024 upon her arrival in Iran at Isfahan Airport. During the questioning, all of her electronic devices and her passport were confiscated. Two months later, she was summoned and interrogated by the Intelligence Office of Isfahan. On 26 October 2024, after appearing in court in response to an official summons, she was released on bail set at one billion tomans. A court hearing was held on 20 January 2026, in the absence of the defendant but in the presence of her attorney. During the proceedings the presiding judge reportedly stated, “Half of this unrest is because of the Bahá’ís.” Ultimately, the court convicted Ms. Ostovar on charges of “propaganda activities disturbing Islamic law” and “insulting Islam,” sentencing her to five years in prison, a fine of 165 million tomans, and 15 years’ deprivation of social rights. She was also sentenced to one additional year in prison on the charge of “propaganda against the regime.” However, under Iranian sentencing rules, the severest punishment of five years’ imprisonment is enforceable. #Bahai #Iran #Arrests #Imprisonments #HomeSearch  #RoyaOstovar

Thank you @drmaisato for specifically highlighting the increased incitement and detention of Bahá’ís in #Iran. #BahaiRights
Mai Sato@drmaisato

Together with UN human rights experts, I call on Iranian authorities to disclose the fate and whereabouts of those detained, disappeared or killed following the nationwide protests—and to halt all executions linked to the demonstrations. The vast majority of those detained or killed are ordinary people, including children, from all provinces and diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds, as well as Afghan nationals. They include lawyers who sought to represent protesters, medical professionals who treated the wounded, journalists, writers, artists and human rights defenders. In recent weeks, Bahai's have also reportedly faced increased incitement and detention. The discrepancy between official figures and grassroots estimates only deepens the anguish of families searching for their loved ones. In the absence of transparency, a devastating narrative starts to take shape—with unverified reports of burial sites and secret executions emerging, and weeks of internet restrictions continuing to obstruct any independent verification of what is happening on the ground. When a state refuses to account for the whereabouts of its people, others will fill that void — and the picture that emerges will define this period in Iran's history. ohchr.org/en/press-relea…

BREAKING: bic.org/news/bahais-ir… At a time when the calls of the Iranian people for justice and for the betterment of their country have been met with violence, repression and widespread loss of life, the Baha’i International Community is alarmed by an increasing effort by the Iranian government to use Baha’is as a scapegoat in a moment of national crisis, consistent with its long-standing pattern, in state media and through increasing persecution. #Iran #Bahai #HumanRights
