According to the Bangladesh government’s EPI database, the vaccination rate during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure was around 90 percent. In contrast, during the Yunus government in 2025, this rate dropped to 59.6 percent under the so-called “Yunus magic.” This figure included the measles-rubella (MR) vaccine as well. As a consequence, children are now dying after being infected with measles. Therefore, responsibility for child deaths due to measles resulting from a lack of vaccination should be borne by @Yunus_Centre. Meanwhile, the BNP’s Health Minister has claimed that no vaccinations have been administered over the past eight years. This is completely false. Vaccinations were not given during Yunus’s one-and-a-half-year tenure; however, they were indeed administered during Sheikh Hasina’s time, as can be seen in the government database. Therefore, the BNP’s Health Minister should apologize to the nation for spreading this misinformation. To those who say that Sheikh Hasina only carried out infrastructural development and that these do not even count as development, I would like to say that there is no sector where her development footprint is absent. As time goes on, the nation will come to understand this more clearly. The Yunus government ran the country through ‘empty rhetoric,’ and the BNP government has begun with blatant falsehoods. In a very short time, the people of this country will realize that there is no alternative to Sheikh Hasina’s leadership when it comes to improving the livelihoods of ordinary people. -Mohammad Ali Arafat

Yet another tragic incident underscores rising concerns over political #violence in #Bangladesh under the new #BNP Govt. A local activist affiliated with #AwamiLeague has been killed in a brutal attack, the second such death reported since the #TariqueRahman-led BNP Govt assumed power just over a month ago. The victim, 40-year-old Kamrul Hasan Mithu, served as General Secretary of the Jahanabad Union unit of the Krishak League, the farmers’ wing of the Awami League. He was a resident of Karisa Durgapur village in Mohanpur Upazila, Rajshahi. On the night of March 28, Mithu was reportedly attacked with sharp weapons following an irrigation-related dispute with a neighbor, Md. Saddam. Critically injured, he later succumbed to his wounds. Controversially, while Mithu was still fighting for his life, police registered a complaint filed by the accused, against Mithu himself! This incident marks the second killing of an AL–affiliated individual in a span of just five weeks, raising serious questions about law and order, accountability, and political targeting.
