The Road Usage Fee (RUF) on gasoline in Colorado is the "new Democratic gas fee" you're asking about. Passed by the Dem-controlled legislature in 2021 (SB21-260) to fund roads, bridges, transit & EV projects without a voter-approved tax hike. It's collected at the pump: - Currently 4¢/gallon (thru June 2025) - Rises to 5¢/gallon July 2025–June 2026 - Then 6¢/gallon July 2026 onward (phased to 8¢+ by 2028, with inflation adjustments). Adds ~5¢ to your fill-up price starting this summer. Full state gas taxes/fees total ~29¢/gal now. National price spikes are separate (supply, global events).
