4/ I see countless "small stories" everyday in my feed, where artists are happy just to receive $40. I don't see any of the critiques of NFTs representing this side of the argument. Extremely polarizing.

1/ THREAD 🧵 I engaged with an artist on the topic of NFTs. Keeping an open mind, I had a look over some sources and concerns about the crypto art scene. Here's what I learned:

6/ People purporting to "calculate" environmental impact of crypto are OFTEN (very often) wrong. Yet they sell the pseudo science calculations (often half a day of scripting) as FACT...

@mattdlockyer Key point: It's nonsensical to compare single occupancy gas powered SUVs to solar powered streetcars when Exxon keeps extracting oil.

5/ A LOT of environmental articles, calculators etc... are flawed! Key point: it's nonsensical to calculate wallets / NFTs specific contribution to a blockchain's activity. The blockchain will keep producing blocks regardless of whether a specific wallet / NFT are used.
