@Iamwoma89798583 @wendywt777 @AllisonPearson Some wards are unpopular and difficult to staff. The ward I was stranded on was like this, a long stay female medical ward, primarily bed bound elderly patients. Patients with dementia, staff had no expertise in this area - worrying. I worked in this hospital for many years.

@wendywt777 @AllisonPearson Had a very recent admission and every qualified nurse on the ward was from India. They were universally professional, kind and caring. I could not say the same for the nursing assistants, majority from Nigeria. They were brusque task focused, disinterested.

@AllisonPearson Seeing it first hand. It’s a disgrace & some imported nurses are doing real harm. I’d be seriously concerned about being admitted into hospital with a life threatening illness as it’s a lottery with nursing care.

@GriftReport People want a breakfast as part of their overnight stay. They dont want to eat there in the evenings as they'd rather go out and the food isn't terribly good. Breakfasts are ok. That's it.

Premier Inn owner Whitbread is closing all 197 remaining Beefeater and Brewers Fayre restaurants across Britain for good, 87 of the sites will be converted into extra Premier Inn hotel rooms while the other 110 will be sold off over the next two years, the move is part of a ruthless five-year plan to slash £250 million in costs and cut around 3,800 jobs which is 12% of the workforce, Whitbread blames huge rises in business rates and National Insurance contributions plus changing guest habits that now prefer simple hotel food and drink offers, CEO Dominic Paul said the branded restaurants no longer make sense and the overhaul will turn Whitbread into a higher-margin pure-play hotel business, the much-loved chains that have been around since the 1970s and 1980s will effectively disappear as the company focuses purely on Premier Inn rooms and revenue, Well done Labour..

Frail 95-year-old woman avoids jail after killing dog walker, 77, by mowing her down while looking for a disabled parking space at petrol station Joan Barwick was turning her red Vauxhall Corsa into the forecourt on Hagley Road in Oldswinford, West Midlands, on April 17 2025, when she failed to see Linda Wareham crossing her path. Prosecutors said she was simply not looking at what was in front of her and was instead focused on an available disabled bay, hitting the 77-year-old at low speed. Wareham died the next day from head injuries. Barwick pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving at Wolverhampton Crown Court. Judge Michael Chambers KC handed her a 16-month prison sentence suspended for two years, banned her from driving for 10 years and ordered her to pay £705 costs, noting her frailty and good driving record meant custody would have a significant impact.

People in their 60’s wanting to have a kid. I’m a granny & it’s brilliant tho’ knackering. We all say wryly ‘But we can give them back’. Yes,the child will certainly lose their parent still young but moreover the child will inevitably become the carer. Who’d choose that for them?

The BBC has commissioned another comedy about drag queens. The Dickie Show is a chat show in which a drag queen interviews celebrities. The first two episodes were only put on YouTube, not the iPlayer, and secured less than 5,000 views between them in their first 24 hours 1/2

@drsanjoykumar It is true. If there are no beds there are no beds. Sometimes a Trust will be able to negotiate for a private bed elsewhere in the country. Sometimes a home treatment team will support them until there is a bed.

This Girlguiding leader is heading to a course - wearing a trans activism badge. She has her ‘Promise’ badge deliberately turned upside down to signal opposition to boys no longer being allowed as members. If you’re openly rejecting the rules of the organisation you represent - while in uniform - it’s not a stretch for parents to question whether you’ll uphold its safeguarding policies too. She’s not the only active leader openly defying them. So why aren’t Girlguiding doing anything about it?

Dear shampoo and conditioner makers… Please stop putting shampoo and conditioner in identical bottles. I’m sure I’m not the only person who gets a bit of soap or water in my eyes and although able to can tell which is which by shape, size or bottle colour i struggle and squint not when they’re identical except for one word in small print. Why do you do this? I get branding, but being a total match makes washing one’s hair more of a lottery than it should be. Thanks in advance, Etc (Image by Grok)

Libfem problem: they want to moan about how it's worthless and demeaning to care for kids but they still expect other women to do that work for them. So they're incensed when their own mothers behave in ways that are exactly the logical conclusion of their mother-hating crap.

@MattOsterndorf I reduced my working hours when grandchildren came along so I could help look after them when parents worked. It was hard work, and my pension reflects the reduction but I wouldn’t have changed it. Late. 50’s, early 60’s is ok, gets tough after this.
