Russell Brand’s The Book of Isaiah 67:1-5 (Probably, maybe) 1. Woe unto the man of unkempt hair and many words, who standeth before the great glowing screens of the nations to beat his chest in feigned piety. 2. For he crieth out to the multitudes with the fervor of a zealot, yet his spirit is but a loud, clanging cymbal; he weareth his newfound faith like a borrowed garment, spun solely from the threads of vanity and spectacle. 3. Behold, he gathereth the merchants of the airwaves and declareth his righteousness upon the glass altar, but underneath, the cloth is threadbare and the vessel is entirely empty. 4. He speaketh in swirling riddles of salvation, seeking the applause of the crowd rather than the quiet of the inner room, offering a feast of grand vocabulary where there is no bread. 5. And the Lord looked upon the performance of the jester and sighed, saying, "I desire substance, not syndication; thou hast mastered the broadcast, but thy broadcast hath no root."

I knew my Russell Brand interview would be an interesting experience when he insisted on saying a prayer for both of us before we started.

It has been one heck of a week at @pompeii_sites and the groundwork for this piece for the @Telegraph written by docu filmmaker and journalist @andreavogt and shot inside Pompeii by photojournalist @gianlucacecere was one of the major highlights! Thank you to all! 🙏

I don’t say this often, but with Pope Leo and the unified Vatican/Church stance against the US war against Iran, I couldn’t be prouder to be a Roman Catholic today.

This is our God: Jesus, King of Peace, who rejects war, whom no one can use to justify war. He does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them, saying: “Even though you make many prayers, I will not listen: your hands are full of blood” (Is 1:15).

Let’s correct him: “…Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”…. ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:28-31

Pete Hegseth, at today's Christian Prayer & Worship Service at the Pentagon, prays for Almighty God to "pour out your wrath" and "break the teeth of the ungodly." He begs the Almighty to sanction "overwhelming violence" against "those who deserve no mercy"

@mtracey Looks like someone hasn’t read the teachings of Jesus. Not sure you can call yourself a Christian and then defy the teachings of your saviour in the name of God. It’s so vulgar. 🤦‍♀️

For the reentry tonight I’d actually be really interested to find out who else hears the sonic boom, set your iPhone up recording video and then leave it running maybe another 5-10 minutes and listen for the sound.

Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 books, had this to say about home libraries: “It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones. “There are things in life that we need to always have plenty of supplies, even if we will only use a small portion. “If, for example, we consider books as medicine, we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the ‘medicine closet’ and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment. That’s why you should always have a nutrition choice! “Those who buy only one book, read only that one and then get rid of it. They simply apply the consumer mentality to books, that is, they consider them a consumer product, a good. Those who love books know that a book is anything but a commodity.”
