The #loancharge was punitively retroactive, and retrospective in its effect. Never should have happened. It's significantly undermined trust in the tax system, undermined certainty, and the rule of law. An independent inquiry is needed to understand how the policy process failed, resulting in such catastrophic consequences.

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay Exactly 6 years ago today we went to see Sir Amyas Morse about the #loancharge and as a Mental Health therapist I explained to him the impact on a persons mental health & the very real risk of suicide. When will HMRC be held to account?

Will HMRC be held accountable at some point for the mental health impact of retroactive taxation that they know will cause bankruptcies and hardships, which 90% told them they disagreed with and which ICAEW told them was fundamentally unfair.

In 2012, I was advised by my ICAEW/CIOT registered chartered accountants, Tax Advisers and Company Auditors to invest in legal (at that time) QC approved tax planning schemes @LCAG_2019 @loanchargeAPPG #LoanChargeScandal
