@dodecahedra As I see it the main problem with this - and definite integrals in general - is the third line, where the strong convention means we try to do far too many things at once. It can be very helpful to break this down into several individual steps.

Here is an extremely "simple" integral which however requires level 10/10 confidence with negatives, parentheses, and order of operations. In practice, only like half of the students in any calculus class will do this correctly by hand.

@Ridermeister @1stclassmaths @mathscpdchat It's my best guess: moving Y12 content into Y11 *might* help some (Double) Maths A-Level students. I didn't necessarily mean you don't cover it again in Y12; just that it *may* be of some practical benefit for some students. It's definitely not enriching or embiggening though :-)
