Teaching can be challenging and there are times it can feel like I am not making a difference. Then something like this happens… and reminds me why I do what I do… Humbled and honored to be selected as one of our baseball players’ honored guests for Tuesday’s game.

After a deeper unit on insurance and protecting yourself (including scams and staying safe online) my business and personal finance class will be ending Unit 7 on more of a lighthearted note with the original Jurassic Park movie and a while you watch guide.

As we approach Halloween, students in my Business Class are digging into the Graveyard of Failed Brands! They’re researching companies that didn’t survive in the marketplace — and some that managed to rise again.

After learning about gross pay, net pay, deductions, taxes, and calculating percentages, my students put their knowledge to the test in a Paycheck Scavenger Hunt! Each answer led them to the next station, keeping them engaged while reinforcing key financial literacy skills.

Just remember. Am I upgrading to the new iPhone for any other reason than it is newer and other people are upgrading? I’m still rocking the iPhone 12. lol

Beyond honored to be nominated by my peers and selected as Teacher of the Month. There is truly no where else I would rather be teaching. Great administration, faculty, staff, and student body.

After we review the history of money we will spend a few days learning the basics of cryptocurrency.

During the first week of school, students in my Business class are diving into the world of marketing and branding! To kick things off, they explored brand recognition and visual identity by drawing popular logos from memory.

Thank you to Charles Austin with the @RocketCenterUSA for supporting the Summer Learning Program at @SparkmanMiddle . Mr. Austin put on a live and interactive show on the science of flight, and learned about lift, drag, weight, and thrust.  Students then built their own rockets.
