This morning, I put together a simple epidemic simulation using Scratch. Explore how the spread is "flattened" when more people stay at home -- and modify the code to try out your own ideas and theories. scratch.mit.edu/projects/37665…

If your students (or you) are staying home due to #coronavirus, consider using the extra time to learn computer science. Most schools don't teach CS, and this is a unique opportunity for most students. Some options:

A growing body of evidence suggests that online learning works least well for our most vulnerable learners. If you are going online, the #1 question is not "what tech?", the #1 question is "how will you support your most struggling students?" 2/

Tonight, count the stars and remember a trailblazer. ✨ A figure hidden no more, Katherine Johnson helped lead us into a new era in space exploration, and for that we are forever grateful. Join us in reflecting on her powerful legacy. twitter.com/i/events/12319…

CS educators and education researchers: what are your favorite books for teaching teachers how to teach computer science? I'd love to put together a relatively complete list for the FAQ I maintain.

Participating in @NYSEDNews "Blue Ribbon" discussion last night. Sad that it was predominately just District Administrators. Almost no teachers, almost no parents, and almost no workforce representation. So much 'education speak' that the few outliers hesitated to contribute.
