There's this interesting thing that happens when I post anything negative about any group at all. People assume that I am biased against that group. I think I've been accused of bias by nearly every religious group in the United States, as well as atheists. Just so people know my background. I grew up Southern Baptist. I attended a Free Methodist college. I became a pastor in the American Baptist Church and served that denomination for about twenty years. My wife and both my sons are Catholic. We were married in her hometown parish about 18 years ago. Both my sons were raised Catholic. Both have been baptized in the Catholic Church. Both have received First Communion. On Sunday mornings, I attend a United Methodist Church by myself and then join my family for the second half of Mass. I attend Mass at least 30 times per year. In the first half of 2026, I will have spoken to groups associated with the following traditions: Episcopalians Evangelicals (Bryan College, John Brown and Messiah University) Jews (Hillel) Secular Student Alliance PCUSA The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints Yale Divinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of America Word on Fire Ministries Ohio University So if you can figure out which religious groups I specifically dislike, please let me know.

Trump’s speech was a big nothingburger. The same points were made since the beginning of the war with Iran. He has no clear objective.

I know that some US parishes might not be comfortable doing this, but *please* consider leaving the churches open during the day - even if there is nothing going on. It’s a beautiful thing when people can just pop in and pray for a moment.

There are priests who have done horrible things. I have reported two of them to the authorities. If you think ALL priests are doing horrible things, put your filthy imagination away and ask God to forgive you.

All these new Catholic converts are going to go on to have large families, or become priests and nuns…and perhaps some will become canonized saints. It's an exciting time to be Catholic.

You don’t need to leave the church if you marry a non Catholic. You can still get a sacramental marriage in the church. Spouse has to agree to raise the children Catholic. I don’t recommend this, just stating facts.

The volume of absolute lies about religion happening on social media right now is just staggering. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but this is just bizarre. The 2023 Cooperative Election Study was an outlier. There are not more Catholics in Gen Z than Protestants.
