New book arrived in the mail 🤍 This time it's '𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀'. Why I'm excited to dive in: Everyone's building AI agents. A few days ago, Cloudflare suddenly went dark... Here's what happened: Cloudflare’s global network experienced a failure around 11:20 UTC, causing a wave of “500 internal server error” messages. One of its internal systems started getting unusual traffic, which caused it to overload. A hidden bug in their bot-protection system crashed after a normal update What got affected: Cloudflare supports ~20% of all websites via CDN, DNS, security layers, etc. The outage hit many high-profile platforms globally: ChatGPT, X, Spotify, Perplexity, Canva, and many more. Some users saw the message: “please unblock challenges.cloudflare.com to proceed”. 🔹 What we can learn: → Even if you’re not using Cloudflare directly, the disruption shows how interconnected cloud infrastructure is, one core service failing affects many unrelated apps. → If you build cloud-based applications, relying on a single provider (or single point in a network stack) becomes a risk. → It's important to plan for these situations, and have a strategy to inform users of downtime. 💬 Did you face issues during the outage?
