Is this true? Did the patent examiner take a bribe to give Alexander Graham Bell the Telephone patent? This article from 1886 makes a good case for that. A decade after Alexander Graham Bell's telephone patent was certified, the patent examiner signed a sworn affidavit claiming that Bell had paid him a bribe of $100, roughly half a month's pay, to favor Bell's patent over Elisha Gray's. What do you think?
