I just watched this video, and it's really unfortunate. Watching her share the experience made me realise that for all the faults that India has, we are extremely lucky to have a top-notch healthcare system. Couldn't imagine waiting for weeks just to get an appointment with an ENT specialist. We take it so for granted. My father had an accident a year ago and his leg was fractured. They did the operation one or two days after hospitalization, and he was discharged in 4-5 days. The insurance covered all the costs, completely cashless. It was honestly such a relief because I couldn't imagine what we would have done otherwise. All we had to do was just show them his insurance card, that's it. No questions asked. And this goes for all sorts of surgeries, there's usually not much waiting period at all. We are a lower-middle-class family, so it's not like we had some exclusive insurance either, it was the bare minimum, but it worked seamlessly. It covered the operation bills, hospital room bills, medicines, and more. And not on a reimbursement basis, btw, we didn't have to pay from start to finish. I'm not sure exactly how much it costs, but it's probably above 1 lakh INR easily. Just wanted to share my thoughts on this, there are a lot of things we take for granted. Every country has its problems, we should also look towards the positives! I only wish we would also focus more on healthcare for severe mental illnesses, because that's probably better in the West. Getting proper treatment for your loved ones suffering from severe mental illnesses, especially for a middle-class or poor family, is a nightmare. Speaking from personal experience. 💔
