I've never heard the phrase "following the shoot down of his plane" as I think @jwalkreporter used it. Why not just simply say "after his plane was shot down?" Supposed professional journalists in radio/TV should just say things the way we speak! That's broadcast news 101.

@KSTPWeather any professional meteorologist who repeatedly calls Wednesday "hump day" & calls average temperatures "normal" should be fired or retire. The morning subs were much better than @KSTP's unprofessional early a.m. weather guy. Celebrate a "normal" "hump day" elsewhere.
