@_RightDataUSA @RedistrictNet Republicans drawing a needlessly hideous district and then using that as justification for "race based gerrymandering" is crazy.

@RedistrictNet Maybe when the Supreme Court invalidates racist-based gerrymanders which mandate the election of Democrats (like LA-6), that state can go back to having normal-looking and compact districts.

@Louis_Frood @_divix_18 @4vataruniverse They were kept in cells where they were visible, so I imagine they wouldn't let them exercise enough to produce sweat. Urine is a problem but they were probably kept in a constant state of dehydration, so they couldn't produce large amounts of fluids.

@_divix_18 @Teletic17 @4vataruniverse That is actually shown in the episode. I'm more wondering about like... How to stop them from waterbending their urine or similar liquids. Katara at one point bent her own sweat. Why didn't they do the same?

Hama witnessed other waterbenders being tortured and left to die under severe conditions FOR YEARS. It would take a mentally strong person NOT to seek vengeance BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY after going through all that.

You're enforcing Muslim rules on all politicians. Europe is secular, we are opposed to religions shaping everyone's way of life. You are free to do whatever you wish in your free time, (15 mins later) but don't expect others to adapt, we expect you to adapt to our secularism.

Republicans have held complete control of the Tennessee Legislature for over a decade. There are only 25 Democrats in the State House. There are only 6 in the State Senate. In other words, Republicans have robust supermajorities over both chambers of the Tennessee Legislature, and yet they refuse to abolish and criminalize abortion as murder. The reason why abortions continue in states like Tennessee has nothing to do with pro-abortion Democrats. The reason abortions continue in these states lies with weak and cowardly pro-life Republicans. If anti-abortion Christians in the state of Tennessee want to abolish abortion, they need to start replacing any Republicans who refuse to abolish abortion in the primaries.

Foundation to Abolish Abortion@AbolitionistFAA

🚨 BREAKING: House Bill 570, which would abolish abortion in Tennessee, has FAILED. After IMMENSE pressure from the Pro-Life establishment and the left-wing media, NONE of the Republican lawmakers on the Tennessee House Population Health Subcommittee had the courage to motion for House Bill 570 to be heard. Many pro-abortion activists CHEERED in celebration upon the failure of House Bill 570.

A Supreme Court majority in WI would matter if they would move faster on fair maps for Congress in our state. Their feet dragging may cost us the ability to have fair maps for fall. They need to appoint reserve judges to clear the calendars of three Judge panel that heard the case.

Holy shit, Dems could very well have a 6-1 majority on SCOWIS next April, and the 1 “conservative” is extremely moderate and regularly sides with the liberals on the court. LOL

@Proleterri91426 @TasosKostrivas @DailyTurkic The Greeks of Istanbul, and the islands of Imbros and Tenedos were exempt from the population exchange. The near elimination of the Greek communities there was a result of targeted ethnic cleansing and pogrom campaigns by the Turkish government.

@StevenJDuffield I'm saying that it's completely unrealistic to think that the GOP can win every single even remotely competitive seat for multiple election cycles, and defend their previous wins in the meantime. It's extremely improbable.

“Turks are colonisers but Australian are not?” Yes, this is unironically my actual position. Britain built a new nation in Australia where no nation and no cities existed before. Constantinople meanwhile stood as a Greek city for more than 1000 years before Turks conquered it and ultimately ethnically cleansed its Greek inhabitants and paved over its Greek history and identity. Note that Indigenous Australians are all full citizens with full legal rights in Australia today whereas all the Greeks of Turkey were killed, ethnically cleansed, expropriated, etc. In absolute terms more Indigenous Australians live in Australia today than at any time in pre-colonial history and their life expectancy went from 30 in pre-colonial times to 70 today. Turks are colonisers, Australians are not.

Did you know Iran has some of the highest rates of transgender surgery? In 1987, Khamenei met a trans male and issued a fatwa recognizing gender reassignment to help fix a "trapped" soul in a wrong body. So now, they often compel gays (homosexuality is illegal) to transition.

@hlya71582057285 @Kain_Deacon @MollyCloseBy @JemappelleEve The "Turks" of Crete were Greek speaking Muslim converts, not your typical Turks. They were part of the exchange (as were almost all Muslims in Greece and Greeks in Turkey) and were sent to Turkey, most not even speaking the language.

Turkey signed the Treaty of Lausanne, which exempted the 'Moslem inhabitants' of Western Thrace—not 'Turkish' ones, and protected the 'Greek inhabitants' of Constantinople. Greece is following the treaty, where did all those protected Greek inhabitants of Constantinople go?

Recognised as Muslim, denied as Turkish. We examine how law, history, and selective interpretations of the Treaty of Lausanne are used by Athens to deny its Turkish minority their right to ethnic self-identification

@mc08084 @ShannoMenk @billybinion Isn't that to be expected? A supermajority conservative supreme court is likely to take up cases in order to push things to the right. Obviously the liberal justices are more likely to vote en bloc in such cases, whereas the conservative majority may have varying interpretations.

For years I’ve pushed back on the claim that the Supreme Court is a radical body of Trump stooges. That claim was never true. But it’s especially absurd now that he’s publicly attacking his own appointees for ruling against his tariffs. Can we finally drop this silly fiction?
