I genuinely feel that comments like these stem from a complete lack of understanding of how the world has changed and how generations have changed. The notion that somehow boomers think that they can control the lives of everyone (even though some of them genuinely believe that they have the best interest of the new generations in mind). But what they don’t realise is that there is something called freedom of choice. The boomers were pushed by their parents into picking either engineering or medicine as careers. Everything else was used to make them feel like losers. And now the same boomers would like to see the younger generation subjected to some form of misplaced control (read censorship). Perhaps they mean well, perhaps it just gives some of them weird sadistic pleasure. Nothing is stopping present day children from doing all the things suggested in the quoted post. In fact, many are doing it now, one just needs to look around. Technology adoption is inevitable. The same technology that made this generation their billions. What they need to realise: Wake up and smell the coffee. We are not using Landline phones anymore. We are sending Telegrams anymore. We are not writing letters anymore. Well, neither are you. Still, your views are respected.

@TellDM Danish bhai, the problem is across the country. No resignation in Karnataka or Punjab. We need a better system yes, but accountability needs to be set across.

The state often (almost everywhere) treats a protest as a problem to end. But this is a relationship, with an entire generation, being written in real time. The contract with them was: study, sacrifice, a secure future follows. It's frayed. Trust or lasting distrust, is being decided now by one thing: whether they experience the state’s response as fair, or as one more proof the “contract” was never real. Good to see the state being attentive now.
