🚨 Lutte contre le terrorisme dans le Sahel : les Forces unifiées de l’AES montent en puissance avec 15 000 hommes mobilisés 🇧🇫🇲🇱🇳🇪 Les États membres de la Confédération de l’Alliance des États du Sahel (AES) franchissent une nouvelle étape majeure dans leur stratégie commune de sécurité. Désormais, les Forces unifiées de l’AES (FU-AES) passent à un effectif renforcé de 15 000 militaires, avec pour mission principale de traquer les groupes terroristes, les réseaux criminels et les trafiquants opérant dans toute la région sahélienne. Réunis à Ouagadougou les 16 et 17 avril 2026, les Chefs d’État-Major du Burkina Faso, du Mali et du Niger ont validé cette montée en puissance lors de la première réunion ordinaire du Comité des Chefs d’État-Major de la Confédération AES. Les travaux ont permis de définir une nouvelle dynamique opérationnelle basée sur une meilleure coordination militaire entre les trois pays. Cette décision intervient dans un contexte sécuritaire toujours fragile, marqué par les attaques répétées de groupes armés affiliés notamment au JNIM et à l’État islamique au Sahel, qui continuent de cibler civils et infrastructures stratégiques. Les responsables militaires ont insisté sur la nécessité de renforcer la souveraineté sécuritaire de l’espace AES à travers : une meilleure circulation du renseignement, la synchronisation des opérations militaires, la sécurisation des zones frontalières, et une chaîne de commandement plus efficace. Le Général Daouda Traoré a été confirmé à la tête des Forces unifiées, dont le quartier général reste basé à Niamey. Cette structure vise à rendre les opérations plus rapides, plus coordonnées et plus efficaces sur le terrain. Pour les autorités militaires, cette montée en puissance traduit une volonté claire : construire une défense commune autonome et adaptée aux défis sécuritaires du Sahel.
