@officialABAT @NigeriaRevenue Commissioning a new headquarters is symbolic, but real reform is measured by impact, not infrastructure. Nigerians are yet to feel this “improved efficiency” or “economic stability” in their daily lives.

@PeterObi Everyone agrees this situation is painful and unacceptable, but turning every tragedy into a political campaign message doesn’t solve the problem. Security challenges didn’t start today, and no single slogan or blame game will fix them overnight.

The news of the abduction of innocent UTME candidates in Benue State is not just heartbreaking but a damning indictment of the failure of leadership and the collapse of security in our nation. Young Nigerians striving for an education are being met with terror. In a country where the share of tertiary graduates is already painfully low (about 1%) which is far below peers like Indonesia (about 13%) and South Africa (around 10%). This is unacceptable. We cannot afford to lose even one more student to violence. Those entrusted with protecting these young students appear increasingly preoccupied with the next election, projecting strength and power to rig elections, rather than deploying that same power and agencies to secure our roads, prevent these crimes, and rescue the abducted children who should not be in the hands of criminals but in examination halls. This is no longer an isolated tragedy. It is a pattern. It is a national crisis. And it demands urgent, decisive, and responsible action, not excuses, not silence, but leadership that matches the scale of the emergency this deserves. A nation that abandons its youth abandons its future. This cannot continue. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

@DanielRegha If the project is finished, just open it. Why are we spending millions of taxpayer money on private jets, security detail, and catering for a ceremony just to turn a key? If the goal is truly 'service to the people,' the project should speak for itself without a federal entourage

Tinubu approves N3.3 trillion payment to restore reliable electricity; Really? Reliable like constant electricity for Nigerians or what exactly? So how come his administration plans to bring back "reliable electricity" but spent or budgeted about N17 billion on the Aso Villa solar mini-grid recently, and how come there's still a budget for generator maintenance in 2026? So the govt don't trust the reliability? Lolz.

Leadership Without Compassion is Not Leadership During his visit to Benue State in June 2025, Bola Ahmed Tinubu stopped at the Government House but did not go to the actual scene where innocent Nigerians lost their lives. Similarly, yesterday in Jos, his engagement ended at the airport instead of at the affected communities. What happened in Plateau yesterday highlights a complete absence of leadership. True leadership requires presence, empathy, compassion, and a willingness to meet people where their pain truly lies. For citizens who have just lost loved ones, homes, and their sense of safety, being addressed from an airport tarmac is profoundly inadequate. This approach exacerbates the sense of abandonment already felt by innocent Nigerians who have endured repeated cycles of violence without meaningful protection or justice. Plateau deserves more than distant words; it requires urgent action and a clear commitment to ending the insecurity that continues to claim innocent lives. In such moments, leadership must not only be visible but also tangible—standing with victims, listening to survivors, and acknowledging the depth of their grief. If we truly desire a better Nigeria, we must demand leadership that is present, responsive, and responsible at all times. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

@ruffydfire When people like Femi Falana and Gani Adams raise concerns, it shouldn’t be ignored. If the judiciary keeps interfering in party matters, democracy is at risk—because elections should offer real choices, not just one option 🤔

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, and the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, on Thursday, warned that Nigeria could end up having only one presidential candidate in the 2027 election if the judiciary continues to interfere in political party affairs. They spoke at the fifth Comrade Yinka Odumakin Memorial Lecture held at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. The event had in attendance the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero; activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore; and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olumide Fusika. It was hosted by the President of the Oluyinka Odumakin Foundation, Dr Joe Odumakin, and was also attended by the Executive Director of the International Press Centre, Mr Lanre Arogundade; other activists, including Agba Jalingo and Richard Akinola.

STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE PRESIDENT TINUBU: FG TO DEPLOY AI-ENABLED CAMERA NETWORKS TO COMBAT INSECURITY IN PLATEAU President Bola Tinubu has assured the people of Plateau State that the Federal Government will deploy an artificial intelligence-enabled network of over 5,000 digital cameras to help law enforcement agencies combat insecurity in the state. President Tinubu gave the promise in his address during his visit to Jos on Thursday. He commiserated with the government and people of the state on the March 29 gun attacks that claimed the lives of innocent citizens in the Angwan Rukuba district of Jos North Local Government Area. “I promise you that this experience will not repeat itself,” he said. President Tinubu directed the Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (Rtd), Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Waidi Shaibu, and the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to “unearth and find the killers” of innocent Nigerians. He announced that the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijjani, will oversee the immediate installation of the security cameras in close coordination with the Plateau State Government and security agencies. The installation will start in Jos and expand across Plateau State, building on systems already successfully deployed in Lagos and Enugu states. Lamenting the pain caused by the latest violence, President Tinubu expressed dismay at seeing videos from Jos depicting violence. “It is only God that can give you joy and comfort,” President Tinubu told families affected by the attacks at the meeting held at the arrival lounge at Yakubu Gowon Airport. “No amount of money can recompense for lost souls,” he added. President Tinubu pledged that the government will do everything possible to ensure justice is served and provide comfort for the bereaved families. He directed the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Bernard Doro, to compile comprehensive data on those affected by the violence to ensure that government assistance is equitable to all. Addressing leaders and stakeholders, President Tinubu emphasised the need for proactive measures to prevent future attacks. ''Why is the past not a source of lessons to us? I have listened to Jonah Jang, Wase, Lalong, Nentawe and Governor Mutfwang. “Governor, you and I were elected on a promise of peace and security, not to comfort and create widows and widowers. We were elected to bring prosperity and inclusiveness as a government, to share hope and aspiration with everyone, and to lead our youth. ''I assure our youths who are represented here that I do not want to be here consoling and commiserating — I want to be here to establish peace,” he said. The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, said the state had enjoyed relative peace before the unfortunate incident of March 29, describing it as a temporary setback. He commended security agencies for their ongoing efforts and expressed confidence that their interventions will continue to strengthen security. “We will win this war against insecurity,” the Governor said, adding that the current administration inherited these challenges and is taking all measures within its powers to address them. Governor Mutfwang also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for approving the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards to complement the state's security efforts. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, thanked President Tinubu for standing with the people of Plateau, noting that the crisis had lingered for a long time. He expressed hope that the President’s visit would strengthen security agencies, stem the tide of attacks, and provide comfort to bereaved families. “We will stay back and work with our people to find a lasting solution to the problem,” he said. A former governor of the state, Jonah David Jang, echoed the request by Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, and the state governor for a special meeting in Abuja to find lasting solutions to the crisis in Plateau. “I went through it, Joshua Dariye went through it, Simon Lalong went through it. The fact that the violence is now leaving the villages and getting into the townships is a dimension that we do not want to see,” he said. He alleged that some people were attempting to sabotage the forthcoming general elections and President Tinubu’s achievements for the nation: “You are doing a fantastic job for the nation, and some people think they want to spoil it like this,” he said. Senator Simon Lalong, a former governor and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, recalled that, as a former governor, he had witnessed the state go through a state of emergency. “We thought that it was over, but it is rearing its ugly head again. Plateau is privileged. If you bring together Jonah Jang, Joshua Dariye, Simon Lalong, and Mutfwang with traditional rulers, you will find solutions to Plateau State's problems. “I say that because all of us went through it. The solution to this problem lies with the people of Plateau. If we are ready, we will proffer a solution to you, Mr President. That is why we suggest a closed-door meeting in Abuja, where we can say the truth. “It is not security agencies that will bring peace — Plateau people will bring peace,” he said. Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris Wase, observed that much work remains to be done to ensure lasting peace in Plateau, noting that many challenges stem from sabotage. He called for increased collaboration between the Air Force and ground troops, particularly as the next farming season approaches in the state. “In Wase and Kanke alone, last week we lost over 14 people, including a captain of the Nigerian Army,” he said. I have read about the court-ordered detention of an individual known as B-Lord, and I must say this clearly that no one should celebrate the incarceration of any person under the color of law. I have reached out to my astute rights lawyer, Marshal D F Abubakar, urging him to disengage from the process. We must all agree that sending B-Lord to prison is not a victory for legal brilliance or advocacy. Rather, it risks emboldening a system of oppression that weaponizes the law against citizens. Justice must never be reduced to punishment for its own sake. I will work to ensure this case is discontinued and B-Lord is released without further delay.

Nigeria’s foreign reserves declined by about $547 million within a 15-day period in March 2026, reflecting renewed pressure on the country’s external buffers. This is according to data published on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) website. While the central bank is yet to explain the reason for the drop, historical trends indicate a steady drawdown rather than a sharp drop.
