🚜 @JeremyClarkson sums up the absurdity perfectly: Britain 🇬🇧 forces its farmers to meet extremely strict and expensive standards and then allows wholesalers to import food produced to completely different rules. Making British farmers compete with lower-standard imports is like sending your Olympic team into the race in straightjackets.

Britain nearly lost its entire army. 📰🇬🇧 May 1940. 400,000 men trapped on a beach at Dunkirk. The Navy sent everything it had. It wasn't enough. Churchill expected 30,000 saved. Out of 400,000. A phone rang in a fishing village. 📞 And another. And another. Harbours. Marinas. Rivers. Anyone with a vessel. 850 boats crossed the English Channel into a war zone. Fishing boats. Pleasure yachts. Lifeboats. Paddle steamers. One was only fourteen feet long. Civilians. No training. No weapons. No orders. The destroyers couldn't reach the beaches. Too shallow. The little boats could. They drove straight onto the sand. Pulled soldiers from the water with their bare hands. Ferried them to the destroyers. Then went back. Again, and again. ⚓ While Britain evacuated, 40,000 French soldiers held the line. They knew they would not be leaving. Churchill expected 30,000. They saved 338,000. Eleven times that. 🇬🇧 Some of those boats still sail today. Every year, they cross the Channel together. Back to Dunkirk. Because no one ordered them to go. They chose to. This is what British people do. When it matters, they show up. We think our history matters. If you think so too, help us keep it alive → proudofus.co.uk/support Be part of us. Be Proud Of Us. 🙏🇬🇧

@CNviolations “If you cannot afford this, then do not go out to eat”. I see this a lot. Does it not occur to them that if we all took their advice they wouldn’t have a job? 🤷‍♀️

Hedgehog Cabin@HedgehogCabin·
The bovver boys are back!🥰 Darling Theo, a frequent flyer here; often returning home to get mended, arrived last night. Seen here first, distinctive by the slight limp left from one of his injuries (see below for his history). Followed just 2 minutes later by sweet Arthur, hot on Theo's scent trail. Hedgehogs are not territorial and not naturally aggressive, but they are solitary, so the presence of another hedgehog upsets them (which is why you'll see fear-poo in your feeder, if one hog eating senses the presence of another). Our provisions for them bring them into proximity with each other, unnaturally, therefore unnatual behaviour will occur. These gentle and docile little animals can sometimes be seen pushing and shoving each other, occasionally actually biting and shaking. This is stress behaviour, not aggression or territorial fighting. It's upsetting to see, but please do break up any such 'fights' by gently lifting one hog and placing him in another feeder, or at the opposite end of the garden. Having more than one feeder can help these precious vistors behave more naturally. But not all the time.😊 There are 7 open pens in the lodge, each equipped with 2 beds. There are 6 more houses just feet away, around the hospital building. And there are a further 8 houses around the garden. But everyone loves pen 5. I have no idea why, as it's identical to 4 other pens, but there can be no better illustration of how we, with all our knowledge, logic and wisdom, really know absolutely nothing about the desires of hedgehogs. Needless to say Theo and Arthur butted heads for a while, each trying to get the other to leave pen 5. They both left in the end, but I expect they'll be back tonight for round 2.🥰 Theo's story: x.com/HedgehogCabin/… Authur's story: x.com/HedgehogCabin/…

Behold, the largest five masted sailing ship in the world. It’s really far away but if I was closer I bet it would be dead cool.

Am I the only one who thinks Cadbury’s chocolate has gone completely downhill lately? It genuinely tastes like rubbish now 😩 It used to be my absolute favourite, and I’m genuinely gutted. I’ve never been into Galaxy either, so I’m basically chocolate-less at this point…

@michaelkeen82 @EnarialP @chrissyvanwijk I worked for a local authority and dealt with abandoned vehicles. If a vehicle was reported as abandoned I would check if it was taxed, check with the police in case it was stolen and, if all was in order, tell the complainant that it was perfectly legal.

@EnarialP @chrissyvanwijk yes no one is disputing this, what i’m say is if someone reports an abandoned vehicle to the council the council, should ignore it or respond to the report?

Welcome to good old ENGLAND. Where neighbourhood watch and jobsworths spend their lives making yours miserable. This is what I came home to after a three week trip abroad. Legally parked 25 meters from my house (where it’s always parked). It’s meant to be destroyed/stored at my personal expense by tomorrow but they don’t answer the phone. Maybe posting on X will help East Staffordshire Council answer? @eaststaffsbc The UK is a real criminal’s playground and a law abiding citizen’s hell.
