Apparently, you’ve never read the 25th Amendment. It contains no provision allowing Congress to invoke it. Your only options are impeachment or doing nothing. And since impeachment requires a two-thirds majority in Congress to remove him, it’s never going to happen. How about you actually do something to benefit your constituents, rather than just pandering to your base for donations?

Donald Trump is incapable of executing the duties of the Presidency. If his cabinet won't act, then Congress needs to step up. I filed articles of impeachment & am working with @RepRaskin to create a panel on presidential fitness under the 25th Amendment. newsweek.com/donald-trump-c…

@F_ingMemphis @FBI Donald Trump has exactly zero to do with the Memphis voting district being deemed unconstitutional. This is pure pandering by a race-baiting narcissist.

@Tennesshero @1sxk1 @VoteMarsha @MrChompersMic I don’t have to be from Memphis to see how the city will likely be cracked and split 2-3 ways and canabalized into suburban majority red districts where candidates won’t need the urban vote to win elections. Maybe I’m wrong but will see next few days.

Since the ruling on Wednesday, liberals have bemoaned that redrawing the lines would create a “lack of representation.” It’s funny, you've never heard a liberal bemoan the lack of conservative representation in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Hawaii, or Delaware.

@3onyourside What fight? The current district is unconstitutional. It’s changing, whether they want it to, or not. They don’t get a say in this.

@Tennesshero @1sxk1 @VoteMarsha @MrChompersMic Franklin had a quote about tyranny of the majority. He said two foxes and a hen voting on what’s for dinner and it has nothing to do with race. If you are the hen put in a district with foxes, your vote matters less because you’re outnumbered. Candidates don’t campaign to you.

How is it disempowering? How many local communities deserve their own congressional districts? Memphis has many Asian and Hispanic communities—does each of them get its own representative in Congress as well? Every person who can vote today will still be able to vote after the districts change. If anything, candidates in the larger district will need to build a broader coalition of voters to win, rather than relying on a single minority base. This could actually improve overall representation, instead of simply taking certain votes for granted.

@Tennesshero @1sxk1 @VoteMarsha @MrChompersMic The outcome of redistricting Memphis into the surrounding suburban areas is in effect protecting the white vote, even if GOP has cover of “legal political redistricting”. And you neglect to respond to my larger point that mass redistricting is disempowering local communities.

Undoing the VRA isn’t gerrymandering. It’s eliminating districts that were created SPECIFICALLY to favor one race over another, which is illegal. Undoing that isn’t gerrymandering, it’s removal of reverse discrimination. “The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.” — Chief Justice John Roberts

I have a real problem with political gerrymandering. Last week, the Supreme Court ruled to limit parts of the Voting Rights Act. Ultimately, this will make it easier for states to dilute the votes of Black voters and other minority groups. We need to outlaw gerrymandering. Period.

No one is arguing that. “Protecting the black vote” is just as illegal as “protecting the white vote.” Much of Memphis is Hispanic now, how about they get their own representative, as well? Where does it stop? “The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.” — Chief Justice John Roberts

@Tennesshero @1sxk1 @VoteMarsha @MrChompersMic It’s unfortunate that the authors of the 75 VRA didn’t have the foresight to know Republicans would someday use the same argument that the Dixiecrats once used - that protecting the black vote was somehow anti-white.
Tennesshero@Tennesshero

@1sxk1 @joshuaguerci @VoteMarsha @MrChompersMic You mean the 1975 VRA that was just found to be unconstitutional? That’s the entire reason for the redistricting. Memphis’ current district is illegal.

@joshuaguerci @1sxk1 @VoteMarsha @MrChompersMic You’re confused. The districts as currently written are unconstitutionally “racially targeted to amplify their vote.” It’s not about dilution. Districts can no longer be based on race AT ALL, only total population.

@1sxk1 @Tennesshero @VoteMarsha @MrChompersMic It’s maddening. He says “no one will be placed in a district created specifically to guarantee representation for Black voters” but won’t care if people are racially targeted for redistricting specifically to dilute their vote.

You mean those same people who were promoted into those positions during the Biden administration specifically because they were either black or female? Surely you don't mean those people, because that would have been racist. “The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.” — Chief Justice John Roberts

@PopeJamesSwink @NashvilleScene Explain how anyone's vote will be nullified. Every single person who is currently registered to vote will still be able to. Also, I find it rich that this is the guy who has represented the Memphis district for the last 20 years...

You've got it mixed up. Memphis isn't being gerrymandered. Voters are simply being redistricted without regard to race, ending the prior practice of drawing special districts to guarantee representation for Black voters. The current Memphis district has already been ruled unconstitutional. You're correct that the legislature doesn't "care who is impacted"—because the law forbids them from taking race into account. Note that the Voting Rights Act never created special districts for Hispanics or other minorities—only for Black voters. Going forward, districts will be drawn based solely on total population, without considering race. Every registered voter will still be able to vote. The only change is that no one will be placed in a district created specifically to ensure Black representation—which, by definition, is racial discrimination. “The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.” — Chief Justice John Roberts

I am becoming of the opinion that Marco Rubio would be harder for the Democrats to beat in 2028 than Jd Vance. I like both men and I will vote for whoever wins the primary. But, Rubio's combination of experience and respectability makes him a very hard target for the Democrats. There's almost no opposition research that would work against Rubio. Most attacks would bounce right off him.
