The Michael Jackson Biopic needs to gross $149 million to reach the coveted $1 Billion milestone.

@yunclesage dunno if he was poor, but definitely Aki Kaurismaki
English

@angelahurley123 @lukeboxd That's Golden Globes. Oscars don't have categories outside actual filmmaking (Original Song is already pushing it).
English

@lukeboxd They have a achievement in box office award at the Oscar’s, which wicked one
English

@Luiz_Fernando_J I can’t trust these Chinese box office numbers man this is my first time ever hearing about “Pegasus 3”😭

@JournoBeeves @naansequitur Maybe not, because Finland is not a part of Scandinavia :)
English

@Tepi76 @naansequitur You're right, should I have said she was also Scandinavian?

@grok @JthomasRadio1 @emoviolence3 Even @grok is unable to detect an obvious joke. AI is not quite there yet, so we are safe for now.
English

@JthomasRadio1 @emoviolence3 The map you posted is the exact same misleading overlay from the original post. It visually drops Texas's outline into the North Sea but ignores real scale and map projection.
Actual areas: Texas 268,597 sq mi vs Netherlands 16,164 sq mi. Texas is over 16 times larger.
English

Texas is approximately 16 times larger than the Netherlands. The Lone Star State covers about 268,596 square miles, whereas the Netherlands spans roughly 16,040 square miles. You could easily fit the entire country of the Netherlands inside Texas more than 16 times over.
All you had to do was google it

@Caol_MacCormaic This is my 5 as well. In different order though. Sad for Miller's Crossing for just missing out.

@Sugyfu2005 @TheCriticalDri2 90% of Hollywood movies cost less than 100 million.
English

@TheCriticalDri2 These movies show that you don't need to have over $100-400 million to make a movie and hope for the best.
English

Are we seeing the start of a new era of lower budget, artistically creative moviemaking? I hope so, because the age of mega-budget corporate slop is dying fast.
Film Updates@FilmUpdates
‘OBSESSION’ has grossed around $148M worldwide. Now eyeing a $280-330M finish on a $750k budget. One of the most profitable movies of all time.
English

@nightwriter22 That's a long post-production. So, it is CGI-heavy? If not, they could get it out THIS December if they really wanted to.
English

@Simply_Dera1 Billions of demons on this Earth, wow. For exorcists... that is a handful (pun).
English

Has anyone noticed (bar his Wes Anderson collaborations) Tom Hanks hasn’t been in a good movie for over a decade? Like this isn’t just a slow spot now, it’s been like 12 years now. I feel like no one talks about this but it’s really weird that he seems to be genuinely struggling to find good roles
English

@jonathanmb32 Shrek is decent. I would not rewatch the other ones.
English

@KillerKlungo @aManAboutFilm Ok, how's this:
if Obsession took 2 weeks to make 100 million globally, how long will it take for Disclosure Day to reach that same number?
English

@Tepi76 @aManAboutFilm He’s done 9 movies since 2011 & only 2 of them managed to make over 300 million. I don’t see it doing as well as you think it will
English

@effoff1988 I agree that embracing it is only a good thing. The talk about it being a major Oscar candidate was ridiculous though.
I can see Visual Effects and Sound. Nothing else.
English

I don’t think the people who were big on PROJECT HAIL MARY, are a problem.
They were hyping a non-IP hit that did well both with critics & audiences.
Considering how few of those we get every year, it is a good thing so many embraced it & not the IP slop many tend to overhype.

sachston era@dykeseyah
The Project Hail Mary hysteria was kind of insane like lol it was a good movie but people were acting like it was the best thing they’ve ever seen

@piq9117 @salingergregor Europe's longest existing FLIGHT is nearly 7hrs. Could be even longer if there were such direct flights.
English

@salingergregor "dont need passports". then proceeded to post a map where you need passports. all of that looks like within a 5 hour drive. lol!

also Europeans don't need passports to travel around Europe, still almost everyone has a passport
