By all measurement of facts, logic, and evidence, this is probably wrong. And it doesn't matter. People experience what's in front of them and will accept explanations that make sense of their feelings. "Let's put American workers over foreign entanglements" is a very persuasive message in a world where facts don't matter.
Ro Khanna@RoKhanna

I went on @MorningsMaria on Fox to make the case for ending the war in Iran that is devastating our economy. It's why food, gas, credit card rates, & mortgages are all up. Let's put American workers over foreign entanglements.

Speaker of the TN House Cameron Sexton just removed me and every Democrat — and therefore every Black elected official in the state legislature from any committee we served on. This move strips nearly 2 million Tennesseans from the representation they deserve in TN state leg.
Julia Baker@julia_r_baker

House Speaker Cameron Sexton has removed Democratic Caucus members from standing committees until next session due to "disrupting processes" and "creating disorder" during the special session. pro.stateaffairs.com/tn/politics/ho…

No. Midwestern values, as Khanna described them—grace to neighbors, common ground, and community focus—center on protecting Americans' safety and upholding the rule of law. Voting to let undocumented immigrants convicted of sexual assault or DUI stay prioritizes non-citizens over citizen security, which clashes with those principles.

@akarl_smith @grok - Would voting to allow illegals to stay in the country who have committed sexual assault or DUI be representative of Ro's supposed Midwestern values?

Happy birthday to President Harry S. Truman. Friendly reminder that Truman was a socialist and vicious partisan democrat who turned many a bad idea into policy and weaponized them politically. @realDonaldTrump is still unwinding and fighting against much of Truman’s policy / political legacy today. Harry was a race baiting, ardent Roosevelt New Dealer who pushed his Fair Deal plan which was an expansion of FDR’s socialist New Deal. Truman fought for nationalized health insurance (socialized medicine). Thankfully, Republicans opposed it but in 1965, when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed Medicare (and Medicaid) into law at the Truman Presidential Library in Independence, Missouri, with Truman and his wife present. LBJ enrolled Truman as the first Medicare beneficiary and gave him the first Medicare card, explicitly crediting Truman as the originator of the idea. Labor relations (Taft-Hartley Act, 1947): After postwar strikes, the Republican-led Congress passed the Taft-Hartley Act to curb union power (banning closed shops, allowing right-to-work laws, and permitting presidential intervention in strikes). Truman vetoed it as anti-labor; thankfully Republicans in Congress overrode the veto. This became a signature Republican victory over Truman. Other Fair Deal elements blocked or limited by the @GOP included federal aid to education (think the roots of Carter’s Dept of Education), a permanent Fair Employment Practices Commission for civil rights in hiring (think DEI), expanded public housing (think Uncle Sam’s plantation), higher minimum wage (terrible for the free market and hurts workers and small businesses), and broader Social Security coverage. Thanks to Republicans the core of Truman’s socialist agenda stalled at the time but would come to fruition later. Truman repeatedly vetoed Republican-backed tax cuts and opposed measures like raising tariffs on wool. He favored maintaining higher revenues to fund government programs (think tax and spend liberal). Republicans fought Truman over inflation controls, price controls, and the handling of labor strikes and shortages after WWII. Republicans pushed for quicker decontrol and less government intervention. Early Cold War containment (Truman Doctrine 1947, Marshall Plan, NATO) had significant Republican support. Some conservative Republicans like Sen. Robert A. Taft were more skeptical of expansive international commitments (think globalism), long term troop deployments without congressional approval, or full military alliances (think NATO). More disagreements with Truman came about with the “Loss of China” (1949). Republicans rightfully blamed Truman for not doing enough to prevent Mao’s communists from winning the Chinese Civil War. Now, we’re stuck with what has become our greatest peer adversary in the Chinese Communist Party. Eventually, his ideas were repudiated by the American electorate who voted in Republican President Dwight Eisenhower in response to decades of FDR and Truman socialism. Even today, though we are still living in a world they built while trying to unwind and repeal Truman’s socialist vision for the United States.

A hantavirus outbreak on a cruise ship in the Atlantic has killed three people and left nearly 150 passengers isolated in their cabins, @thomasrhanson reports, raising a key question: should we be worried? While @DrLaPook says the risk to the general public remains low, health officials are still monitoring passengers who disembarked earlier as concerns grow over possible spread in the coming weeks.

All issues are downstream of immigration. I saw it daily on the border. Cheap labor is the root. AI is devouring low-skill, entry-level jobs faster than anyone admits. So why import more cheap human labor, or push amnesty via the DIGNIDAD Act, when robots do it better, cheaper, and with zero drama? AI: zero wages, zero benefits, zero citizenship. Never quits. Scales forever. Our kids need those starter jobs for work ethic and a future. We’re ripping the ladder out from under the next generation. This isn’t politics. It’s basic risk management. Secure the border. Reject amnesty. Protect American youth first. Old map: cheap labor fights. New map: humans vs. AI. Car factories are open. Stop fighting over horse stables. AI doesn’t care about feelings, it rewrites everything. Thoughts?

Also understand how your insurance handles an underinsured motorist. I had a thug crash a car in to me, causing nearly $10k damage to my vehicle and my medical bills were in excess of $120k. The vehicle he was driving had the minimum coverage allowable in Missouri. $25k. My insurance company told me I was out of luck since I didn't also have underinsured coverage.

You need to have uninsured motorist insurance. Umbrella insurance, too. Even then, if an illegal hits you, if it's really bad, you are going bankrupt from medical bills and lost wages. Important to have 529's for kids, even if only a "little." No such thing as "too little."

He may be earning the opportunity. And I think he deserves the opportunity but he's got a long way to go to earn my vote. I'm old enough to remember when Marco was making the rounds on TV, simping for illegal aliens and I don't think he's done nearly enough to convince me he isn't still the same guy from back then.
