Today, I submitted 456,365 Albertans’ signatures to Elections Alberta, petitioning the Premier to do the right thing, avoid a divisive and economically harmful referendum, and allow MLAs to vote and reaffirm that Alberta’s future is in Canada.🇨🇦 Alberta is #ForeverCanadian

Today we announce Bill 2: the Back to School Act. If passed, this bill will put student learning first, ensure our children return to the classroom on Wednesday, October 29th and legislate a fair reasonable collective bargaining agreement for Alberta teachers. On top of $8.6 billion to build and modernize 130 new schools, this deal will ensure: ✅ $70k to $119k salaries ✅ 3,000 extra teachers ✅ 1,500 more education assistants We know there is more work that needs to be done. My message to Alberta teachers is simple: you will not stand alone. Tomorrow all other Alberta unions will meet to finalize a plan for unprecedented collective action. The executive council of the Canadian Labour Congress will also meet in emergency session.

@DuaneBratt Using the notwithstanding clause is an admission that the government is stripping the human rights and charter rights of citizens.

The UCP government has invoked time allocation on a bill removing Albertans' Charter rights. And they're using the notwithstanding clause to do it. Here's why that is a dangerous precedent. And why real conservatives need to stand up against it. jaredwesley.ca/newsletter
