Even when they broke through our shape and made it to the last line, there were only so many times where it felt like we were in deep trouble. And, when you're flooding the first phase like that, you need the individual quality that provided us the goals to make it count.

We still managed that well tonight, and it certainly helped that we came into this not trailing and therefore chasing too heavily, because that's when they can pick you apart. But beyond how good we were in the duels tonight, it was just that difference in individual quality.

Good stuff. Leverkusen no pushovers at all, really impressed by the way they built on the diagonal, were able to pose constant dilemmas throughout our shape, and the speed of combinations & interchanges that kept us at arm's length a lot of time.
