This Oklahoma radio station snubbed a fan request to play "Texas Hold ‘Em." This is racist for 2 simple reasons: 🧵

If you struggle with talking to a camera, try this: 1. Set up your camera. 2. Make sure you’re in frame. 3. Set a timer for 15 minutes. 4. Talk to the lens like it’s your best friend. Don’t try to make sense, say whatever comes to mind and suspend your own judgement 5. Repeat

I’m always shocked at how rarely great business ideas get ripped off. Candlelight Concerts makes $31k in one evening in RURAL IOWA. All with IG ads! Literally anyone could (and should) rip off this idea in your corner of the world, by doing this: 1. Find a gorgeous venue like Alex’s below. 2. Find a local, talented musician and split ticket sales with them. Tell them you’ll charge 20% more than normal because…candles. Have them promote to their fans. 3. Throw up a landing page with a link to a ticketing website like Feverup .com 4. Hire a professional photographer to take pics of what the event will look like. Recreate it. The pics are what sell the tickets. When you book the venue just work in a 2 hour photo shoot on a day when they aren’t booked. You’ll prob want to attend a candlelight concert and take notes. Pick up a candle and see if you can find what brand it is and measure it. Buy those on Ali baba. 5. Join all the local FB groups to talk about the event and post pics. 6. Create an IG page and push ads to a 30 mile radius. Women aged 25-45. 7. Profit. But seriously, this is clearly a model that works. This company hosts concerts in hundreds of cities, which means this model works basically anywhere, and that about 10,000+ other cities are untapped. If it works in rural Iowa and Abu Dhabi I promise it’ll work in Yakima, WA. There’s nothing proprietary. It’s candles and a concert. We’re not copying OpenAI or SpaceX. YOU DONT NEED TO THINK OF NEW IDEAS. They are right in front of you already. What you need to do is stop making excuses.

@mhall_viola I’m sorry that they said that. Those opinions are so exhausting and uninformed. Many people I went to school with just kinda…stopped playing music. If you’re working, you’re killin it. Period. 🙌🏽

Did I miss the memo??? Since the new year, three separate people told me I’m not a serious musician because I didn’t go to school in NYC. Well, specifically one institution. It’s a fine place/school. I have many friends who went there. Including some of my students. But…hey.
