This might be a very dumb question, but if an airline goes out of business while its planes are mid-flight, do they still continue to their destinations? And how does the crew return to their home base?

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Spirit Airlines is preparing to cease operations as negotiations with US government for a $500 million rescue package falter. Spirit flights are currently operating, with 44 aircraft in the air.
