Thanks to pi.dev, ollama and Sonnet 4.6 I was able to port an old OpenGL renderer project of mine across to Vulkan in one night. Most of the heavy porting of OpenGL was done by Sonnet 4.6, but qwen3.5:4b running locally picked off quite a few bugs.

@SheriefFYI 9b wasn't so smart on executing plans, I had to walk it through step by step. 27b was much smarter, but still made mistakes. They need a bit more guidance than Claude, but for many tasks were competent enough. I used them with Ollama and Continue

@SheriefFYI Qwen3.5-9b and 27b on Q_4_K_M. Not as smart as Claude, but given the zero token cost I found it good enough

I have practically infinity tokens for work which is very nice but when working on my hobby projects I really need to restrain myself from spending, though the value is clearly there.

Claude agrees with me about politics which is of course a sign that it's very intelligent and not that it is reflecting my own opinions back at me as it guesses the most likely value for each next token.
