@Jorunn_SC Civilization exist out of fear and necessity. People naturally want to live as long as possible, and a "civilized" society provides a shelter for that to occur. As Americans, we have it so good we tend to forget that the reality is more ugly than we'd care to imagine.

@TheBasePirate Ouch that's an incredibly pessimistic view. For sure there are still barbarians and mindless sheep herded by fear but I still believe in general most people are basically good. If that wasn't the case civilization wouldn't exist. Self interest is often mutual interest
