@RedNinetyFour Trading Reed would be a huge mistake. He pairs so well next to Amen and Alpi. Does he need to improve on defense? Yes. But you have to allow him to learn on the job. Give him more minutes.

Genuinely wondering what the path forward is for Reed Sheppard here with this franchise under Ime Udoka. Predictably, it feels like we’re right back to square one where we were in January with regards to his role. And I’d expect that to dwindle even further in the playoffs if he even plays at all. Fred will be back next year and will get his 30 mpg if his body allows. Where will Reed’s minutes come from? He’ll also be extension eligible the following summer. Are the Rockets hoping he reaches a point of defensive acceptability to Ime’s standards before that contract decision is made? Do we really think that he’ll reach that point by then? Just starting to wonder if they should just trade him while he still has value and get an actual rotation piece that Ime isn’t actually willing to play. Ime isn’t going anywhere. There’s no amount of gaslighting any homer on here can do to convince me that a #3 overall pick in his second year playing 19 mpg and benched for G League level journeymen is anything but a massive organizational failure.

It’s really funny to me that the new talking point being disseminated seems to be “team assists” when in reality, the Rockets just made the very obvious adjustment of finally moving Amen Thompson off-ball and actually playing a point guard.

The original vision was Amen and Jalen, but you can easily see how Amen and Reed have the potential to become the best backcourt in the league some day. Their skillsets complement each other beautifully when they’re playing together. It was on full display last night.

Out of the loud voices, I’ve been Reed Sheppard’s biggest stan these past two years, but even I thought he would end up being a high level complementary starter. I’m now starting to wonder if he might eventually end up being this team’s best offensive player.

@BiasedHouston He has to get the reps and learn to play through his mistakes. If Ime takes him off the court for effort, I get that. But so far that isn’t what I have seen.

Despite only playing 24 minutes, Reed Sheppard was a game high +11 tonight. I seriously think you have to start increasing his minutes for the remainder of the season.
