The real genius of the Loop is that it’s true point-to-point. You can enter at any station and go directly to any other station. No transfers. No fixed routes. No stops. The number of stations between you and your destination is irrelevant. That’s a fundamentally different model from trains or buses.

Boring Company is going to end soul sucking traffic. Today traffic exists bc we keep forcing a 3D world to move on 2D roads. Building and cities continue to grow upwards, while roads keep staying flat. That’s the problem this company is solving. The Boring Company goes underground where space is essentially unlimited. Think about it: • Roads are 2D • Tunnels are 3D and you can scale them as deep as you want, endlessly. When cars move through underground tunnels, 1/ Trips become straight lines 2/ Driving becomes safer 3/ Traffic disappears 4/ Commutes shrink from painful hours to peaceful minutes 5/ Stress drops significantly Boring Tunnels simplify trips. You just get in, the Tesla drives you, and then you arrive. These are one of those things that is so simple, yet so impactful. Boring Company is a game changer.

NEWS: The Boring Company says the Vegas Loop already moves 40,000 passengers on a busy convention day with only a small part of the system open Mike Baier, a director of production and engineering at The Boring Company, said that already beats most light rail systems in the US. "In a few months we will open the airport connector tunnels, which are two of the longest transportation tunnels built in the US in the last 25 years, and we believe ridership will 3x-4x as a result," Baier said. He said that would put the Vegas Loop in the top 10 US public transportation systems by ridership, on its way to top 3 or 4 as more of the system opens. Right now, only a small percentage of the Vegas loop is open and we already do about 40,000 passengers a day on a busy convention day, which is more than the majority of light rail systems in the US.  In a few months we will open the airport connector tunnels, which are two of the longest transportation tunnels built in the US in the last 25 years, and we believe ridership will 3x-4x as a result. At that point Vegas loop would be in the top 10 of public transportation systems in the US based on ridership (and on its way to top 3 or 4 as we open more and more of the system).

I asked @NASAAdmin when we'll have boots on Mars, this was his response: "SpaceX's stated priority right now is the Moon, not Mars and that changes the Mars timeline and how many people we're talking about. We can invest in nuclear power and propulsion. It's part of national space policy. It's the next giant leap—potentially the pathway with the fewest miracles required to put four people on Mars in the next 10 to 15 years. Not the Elon vision of millions in a self-sustaining city, but what NASA can do through taxpayer funding and nuclear investments, plus industry alongside it. So step one is the Moon in 2028. In parallel, we invest in nuclear power and propulsion. Hopefully that frees up resources for the next stop: Mars. Different timeframe probably that 15-year mark."

Prufrock is able to turn through the use of its active articulation system and thrust vectoring, but how does the tunnel we are building turn?  It’s not immediately obvious — We bring in precast concrete tunnel segments that form the next tunnel ring after Prufrock's erector assembles them. If these rings are precast, how does the tunnel turn without creating gaps between rings?  The answer lies in the geometry of the assembled ring. It's trapezoidal. By rotating, or "clocking", each ring we can control whether the tunnel goes straight, left, right, up, or down. Want to go straight? Just clock each consecutive ring 180 degrees off from the last. Want the tunnel to turn hard? Clock each consecutive ring exactly the same as the last. Depending on the ring variant we have either 12 or 16 different valid clocking positions and we use these positions to adjust the tunnels radius of curvature from infinite (straight tunnel) all the way to the max allowed by the geometry of the ring.  These clocking angles are all auto calculated by our homegrown navigation system, SNaILS.
