March 23, 1901: Australian opera star Dame Nellie Melba reveals secret of her famous toast. Its name is thought to date from 1897, when she was very ill & it became a staple of her diet. The toast was created for her by a chef who also created the Peach Melba dessert for her.

Mughal Emerald Wine Cup (1620 CE) : The Magnificent Emerald, Gold and Enamel Wine Cup; belonged to Mughal Emperor Jahangir (r. 1605-1627 CE), from Northern (Mughal) India 🇮🇳. This emerald originally mined in Colombia, and it was sold in India, where emeralds were much desired by Emperors of Mughal Empire (1526-1857 CE). This remarkable 408.5 Carats Emerald Cup (weight 411g), is one of largest and most magnificent Mughal Emerald Cup, ever to have been produced. Size, Colour and Clarity of Stone, from which it is carved are exceptional; this has then been carved with a delicacy remarkable for a stone which is so brittle. Mughal craftsmen who made this cup thus followed prismatic quality of what was an exceptionally large emerald crystal. It is also interesting to note that, while top has been made by craftsman into a perfect shape and size, underside of bowl is slightly irregular, probably reflecting original crystal.
