@HockeyThinkTank Toph - you have lots of good takes but I disagree on this one. If you listen to even the first five mins, you will hear him deflect from players and take a lot on himself. He also is stating a fact - anybody afraid of that is afraid of accountability.

Penguins are a good example of what not to do. They built around an aging core to generate a playoff birth with no real chance to win Tear it down and rebuild properly Flyers top 6 point scorers all age 30 and under. Penguins top 6 all age 31 and older. Drastic difference

I'm sure this first round exit is well worth not getting something like Kahdri or Schenns (1st, prospect, +) When Mantha leaves for whichever team offers him a boatload you'll likely change your tune

Dubas is all over the board, getting Karlson in 2024 says going for it, getting picks last year says rebuild. Then is stagnant this year.

Mantha and Karlson cannot help you win a championship, you sacrifice the current season to set yourself up for a better future. Particularly Mantha, there's no clause to waive and you know he's leaving

Pittsburgh isn't doing that but they also aren't selling to get a rebuild more firmly going. Prime example is Mantha should have been traded, he could have gotten quite the haul at the deadline

@jtbourne Nah, the team needs a chance to challenge and you can't interrupt the game. Possession isn't comparable to a goalie reset.

Awesome game, but genuinely believe offside should have an expiry, like goalie interference. If we can say “goalie had enough time to reset” after some bumps, can’t we say “defence had enough time to reset” 10 seconds after an entry? 15?

@TheChancellorVC @ProducerDrew_ Pittsburgh has been selling for the past 2 years. The only time they bought is for Chinakhov and that was only a 2nd and 3rd. They are nothing like Detroit.

@CornerGordo @ProducerDrew_ Mantha for sure should have been traded as he is a ufa, big miss there. You might not get full value but 75% of value is better than nothing. Like Malkin last year of his deal should have done everything you could to get him on to a contender for another cup run

They'd pick were they were going but for a haul. It's a very unpopular move but would help the rebuild tremendously and likely kept it a lottery team

@ZmanMagnolia @ProducerDrew_ And that's part of the problem it shouldnt be the same. They can't afford to make the playoffs, gotta sell anything and everything you can. Continually making the playoffs when you can't contend keeps you in purgatory and requires a ton of draft luck to get out of
