Writers: I'm really struggling with the "don't water down or over explain in your books" concept when time after time beta readers don't understand things unless I spell it out for them. How do you find a happy medium without repeating details throughout your novel?

I’m jealous of fictional writers. I’m jealous of fictional writers. They invent whole worlds, perfect timing, and people who say the right thing. My stories just have the comedy, tragedy, and drama of real life… awkward pauses, bad timing, and figuring out the plot while living it. #AmWriting #WritersOfTwitter

I used to be very harsh when I reviewed books. Honest, but harsh. I stopped reviewing that way but it got me thinking. Is a harsh review okay, or is it just being mean for no reason?

We are writing the story of our lives. Full of real content that includes the good the bad and sometimes very spicy experiences that we have had over our 34 years of marriage. Some of our fights and all of our love life would be difficult for people we love, particularly our children and grands to discover. So we created these pen names and identities. The images are in our likeness and our story is real. So obviously I think its fine. We reveal those details in our story. Readers can decide what is acceptable.

@eunicedraf277 absolutely. some of our feedback so far has given us the impression that we may have jumped into the spice too fast and too often. We are drafting an outline as we consider how to rearrange our story to make it more slow burn. You input would be helpful.
