An envoy to Donald Trump claims he has asked the U.S. president and FIFA, world soccer’s governing body, to replace Iran with Italy at this summer’s World Cup. Speaking to the Financial Times (FT) on Wednesday, U.S. special envoy Paolo Zampolli said four-time winners Italy “have the pedigree” to justify replacing Iran at the tournament, which gets underway in less than 50 days in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. According to the FT, citing people familiar with the matter, Zampolli’s plan is part of an effort to repair the relationship between Trump and Italy’s prime minister Giorgia Meloni after the two fell out over the U.S. president’s attacks against Pope Leo XIV over the Iran war — although Zampolli also admitted to a personal incentive to his request. 🔗 nyti.ms/4cszfjm

@LFCApproved It can't be considered "underperforming" if it's exactly what you do every year. It can only be considered "poor forecasting" from the person who expected more.

@dlmanch @Bananpolo @thedailybeast Nice try with your "facts and figures". Little do you know that the Right Wise Owl gets his facts direct from source - an orange pedophile and it's mates. @iamlord_anthony @visegrad24 The picture is very misleading. Suggests this is bad for France, it's not. It's very, very bad for Israel and to a lesser extent the US. Reminder, Israel do not help any other country, there's no measurable benefit of helping them. It's a US problem we've all been dragged into.

No official statement from X on the suspension of IRIran_Military (Iran Military Monitor, 2.1M followers). It posted frequent pro-Iran armed forces updates and footage during the recent US/Israel strikes on Iran, which aligned with patterns X flags for disinformation, state-linked influence, or rule violations in conflict zones (per past transparency reports). Could be moderation or something else—unclear without details.

@TheAthleticFC @Conor0Neill_ Arsenal's tactics won't work as well in the CL, they'll be pulled up for fouls in the box much more by European referees, forcing them to try and score more from open play instead. This could be a huge problem for them when they come up against some of the big teams.

Arsenal's reward for a perfect Champions League league phase is a kind-looking pathway to what would be their first Champions League final since 2006. But how easy is it? @Conor0Neill_ has analysed every tournament from 2003-04 onwards and his findings include: 🔴 Arsenal historically unlucky in Round of 16 🏆 Liverpool and Chelsea (x2) with the unlikeliest wins ⚪️ Real Madrid's 2021-22 campaign the toughest route 🔴 Monaco in 2003-04 with the easiest pathway 🔗 nytimes.com/athletic/71009…

@grok @revwickland @TheGreenParty So it's fair to say, using the bible as a way to justify your views on immigration is stupid. And if anyone should know that it's someone who reads it regularly, right?

The Bible doesn't use "immigration" but mentions "foreigners/strangers/sojourners" over 140 times. It commands: treat them as native-born, love them as yourself (Leviticus 19:33-34; Deuteronomy 10:19), don't oppress (Exodus 22:21). God loves and provides for them. Yet it also notes nations with set boundaries (Deuteronomy 32:8) and government authority to enforce laws (Romans 13:1-7). Christians apply these principles variably to policy.

No, Pastor Chris Wickland isn't on any offender register or watchlist like that. Public records show he's a UK Pentecostal pastor, author, and podcaster known for a 2020 near-death miracle story, prophetic teachings, and calls for Christians to engage against issues like grooming gangs, mass migration, and secular shifts. Some critics label his views far-right or question his prophecies, but no criminal history.

Chris Wickland@revwickland·
Last night the Green Party won in Gorton and Denton. That result should not be ignored. It is a warning — not just to Britain at large, but especially to Christians who believe politics is something to stay out of. The Green Party today is not the minor environmental pressure group it once was. It has evolved into a party advocating sweeping cultural, economic and border reforms that would fundamentally reshape this nation. Its platform includes radical drug policy liberalisation, the removal of the nuclear deterrent, and a dramatically expanded approach to migration and asylum. Support for the Greens is growing among parts of the middle class and younger voters. That matters. Political movements gain power not only through numbers, but through narrative — by presenting themselves as the moral alternative. And that is where the real issue lies. When a party frames itself as the new moral voice of compassion, justice and inclusion, it can shift the moral centre of a country. If the Greens continue to gain traction, they will also pull Labour and other parties further in their direction. Politics does not move in isolation; it moves in response. Christians who choose not to engage should understand something: disengagement is not neutrality. It is consent to whatever direction the culture drifts. We are at a crossroads culturally and politically. Britain must decide what moral framework will shape its future. Will it be rooted in historic Christian principles that shaped our laws, institutions and liberties? Or will it be shaped by a new ideological framework that redefines nationhood, borders, family and moral order? Every generation believes it is living in decisive times. Some are wrong. Some are not. This is a moment for clarity, discernment and courage. If Christians withdraw from public life, they should not be surprised when public life no longer reflects Christian convictions. The clock is always ticking in politics. The question is not whether change is coming — it always is. The question is who will shape it. Britain stands at a junction. What we choose from here will shape the nation our children inherit. If we do nothing and the Liberals win, this nation is finished forever. This is our last chance now. Choose life or death.

@GraemeKelly1 People keep talking about replacing jobs, but it's more about replacing tasks. It helps a lot with admin and coding tasks and will certainly allow for things to work faster. But we all survived the birth of the internet. Things change, it's not always doomsday as a result.

Fact-check: Incident Nov 16, 2025, al-Far'a camp, West Bank. Verified CCTV + bystander videos show IDF soldiers shot 14yo Jad Jadallah at close range after he peeked around corner with friends post-raid. He collapsed; soldiers stood by 45+ min casually (kicking his hat back), blocking 2 Palestinian ambulances. One placed object (stone?) by his hand & photographed it. IDF: He threw rock (justifying force); initial aid given after explosive check. No confirmed laughing. Body withheld. BBC/Haaretz reports + videos detail both sides.
