@KnowerOfBans 100% agree. Give the keys to Luna and keep the few vets that show up with heart every game (Jedi, Weah) Dempsey, Donovan, (or any other big time player for another country) would never. Even if he wanted rest, show up in camp/be a leader He’s a documentary star first

Most unlikeable USMNT players ever. All the pampered brats know they’ve got built in excuses and fans will gobble them up as long as they produce for mediocre teams in Europe.

@AlexiLalas This has nothing to do with pride for his country. Christian obviously loves his country and loves playing on the USMNT. But an athlete at this high of a level needs some time off sometimes. The Gold Cup means nothing really. He’ll come in ready to go when it’s time.

@bob_morocco This is fair/perhaps memory biased but recall Donovan developing passing/navigating space (both in space/with contact at Azteca) early career- now 9 years into pulisic’s USMNT career/3rd WC cycle and he’s still… fairly good at close control w/ head down. Not enough growth

@TheDeepSpace_ Donovan did have issues playing in congested space in the middle, especially when he was younger. Of course the level of contact allowed back then was higher. Pulisic is more agile than Donovan but that passing out of pressure thing is my main concern.

We need to talk about Pulisic:

Thoughts on the game. Not going to hold back. -Another unacceptable loss. Pochettino has made this team worse. There is no evidence right now he's a better USMNT coach than Berhalter was, and that itself is pathetic, given what he is paid and his general reputation in the game. However, pedigree doesn't matter if he can't adapt to what this group is. This isn't Tottenham or PSG or Chelsea. He has two options, adjust or leave. If we don't win the Gold Cup in resounding fashion with the main issues being fixed, he needs to be sacked. Our standards cannot be so low. We don't need to bow down either to him because he's accomplished in the game. He is not bigger than the USMNT. If he doesn't achieve results, he's not good enough for the USMNT. What are the main issues: -I hate how he's trying to build this team. He has a fundamental misunderstanding about what Pulisic is. This idea he's perpetrating that he's "Christian Eriksen" is delusional, and does not align with the type of player Pulisic has shown himself to be in his career. Pulisic lacks top level passing vision and creative qualities of a #10. He is best running at players due to impressive quickness and close control. It's not to say he has no qualities that could fit inside (he's more of an inside attacking mid than say Weah), but he's more natural outside where his 1v1 ability has more time and space. Pochettino is limiting our attack and making us significantly less potent by playing Pulisic centrally. Not only does it stifle what Pulisic does best, but it stifles everyone else. Diego Luna did an admirable job today, but he's not a winger. Is it really a sustainable solution where Reyna (who we hope can eventually figure it out) can only come into the match if Pulisic leaves it? I think most of us want to see them on the field together! The formation today was "more normal" than whatever he tried to concoct vs. Panama, but it still didn't work. -On this same wavelength, does Pochettino understand the strengths and weaknesses of the pool? Because if he did, he'd know we lack wingers and don't lack #10's. Reyna and Tillman (along with Luna, Gutierrez, etc.) has to be enough for the #10 spot when you have Pulisic, Weah, and then, what exactly for wingers? We only have 2 wingers. If we had a lot of wingers and no 10's, maybe you could play Pulisic as a #10, but it's the opposite. Are we building a team to pad Pulisic's end product tallies or to put the best team out there? I don't believe this attack can work if Pochettino persists with this. It will marginalize Reyna and Tillman (two of the most talented players in the pool), and it'll lead to a less effective Pulisic. That's before you get to what it does for the collective. This abomination must be scrapped. -Carter-Vickers has no business getting further USMNT call-ups. He was totally sleeping on that first goal. Other than the WC, he's been very mediocre for the NT. It has maybe went under the radar because there have been more high profile strugglers, but I've seen enough of him. At least until he's willing to challenge himself at a higher club level. He seems comfortable at Celtic. Okay good, stay there, but no more USMNT. -Speaking of USMNT strugglers, what does it say about Sargent that Agmeyang is starting ahead of him and White is the sub off the bench? I would not have went that far. I think if you need a win he's more likely to bring the goods because he's better, but I think we've arrived at the point where if Pepi, Balogun, and Wright are healthy that Sargent isn't part of the best 23. That's two true 9's and one half-nine. No need for Sargent at the moment. Sorry, he's earned exactly that. -How pathetic must it be for Reyna that Diego Luna is now upstaging him and passing him on the depth chart? All we heard for years was how Reyna was this superstar talent because he was playing at a big club from a young age. Players like Luna who started their careers in MLS (actually USL, but anyway) were laughed off by many fans as players we didn't need. Plenty of people called them inferior MLS'ers. Guess what? Reyna is now getting passed up by them. I don't love appealing to authority, but when basically every coach regards Reyna this way, maybe Gio needs to be the one that is responsible. It's a shame this is where it's going, but yes, Gio Reyna is now of less value to the USMNT than the young players from MLS people claimed were so far beneath him. I think we all hope it can change, but that's on him. -Max Arfsten does not not need to be called back for the USMNT. He isn't even a natural LB! He doesn't play LB at club level. This is a Pochettino invention that he's a LB, and he's not good at it. Pochettino needs to get serious, and recruit Brown. Yes, it is part of his job to recruit players like this. If he thinks it's not a key responsibility, he misunderstands the role, and maybe needs to resign. -This might be a hot take, but I don't need to see Agmeyang anytime soon, unless we have like 5 #9's missing. He was totally wasteful in both NL appearances. His touch and soccer IQ was lacking. He was trying to play a different brand of football than his teammates. Yes, he scored (I'd suggest to you he hit it right at the GK and it wasn't an impressive finish), but he was a big reason why we only scored one. It's a great story, but let's not make him into something he's not. He's way more limited than Pepi, Balogun, Wright, and Sargent (as bad as his NT record is). 3 goals in his first 4 NT games is fools gold. He's an average MLS striker. You don't earn regular USMNT call-ups because you played well in Camp Cupcake against bad competition. If he wants to be part of the regular rotation at the striker position, he needs to leave to Europe and produce. Bottom line: I don't believe this is a panic moment for the USMNT. I believe the state of the pool of talent (by far the most important measure) is the best it's ever been, but I do believe this is a wake up call for this iteration. We might have a coach who does not fit what we need (as successful as he may be at the club level) and we have a group of players who aren't delivering and need to dig a lot deeper than they are to perform for the NT. Time will tell, and we'll see how this plays itself out.

I’m so sick of hearing how “talented” this group of players is and all the amazing clubs they play for. If you aren’t going to show up and actually give a s!%* about playing for your national team, decline the invite. Talent is great, pride is better.

I think that’s a totally legitimate question to ask, and one that cuts to the heart of why the debate has been so broken. I think it was also asked in good faith, so I believe it deserves a real answer. One of my criticisms of the crypto space is that CT has a bad habit of just screaming at people instead of actually debating real concerns and questions, and I don't want to behave like that myself. Thus, I am going to endeavor to answer Gary in a few parts, and specifically point to some things I think align with the worldview of many antitrust folks, YIMBYs, classic liberals, and those who care about financial inclusion. In other words, good question Gary, and I am glad you asked.

After reviewing your feedback, the waiting time before a spell is triggered has been reduced! That measly bear market that ensued shortly after was not going to be enough to break our credibility. A promise means through thick or thin. 2+ years in this space is a lifetime. It would be impossible to try and sum up the blood, sweat, tears in just a few milestones. But, let's cover some anyway. The first Goon Wars battle ever recorded was on June 3rd 2022 at 16:37:59 - Our game was officially alive!! Since then: > 50 seasons have been played. > 100,000 games have been battled. > 5,000 unique prize winners were paid. > 8000 custom decks have been created > 8,000 unique accounts were registered. > 20,000 unique NFTs were given as prizes. Many in our community often say, "this is just the beginning". Not only do we agree, we promise they're right.
